A little hype for something (finally) started...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1C99_s1UH6A Question....for those interested in learning 3 Disk Monte. What sort of format would one prefer???? Downloadable video? DVD? Written PDF to go with video? Paper Booklet? Which is more important...a routine you can do or an explanation of the sleights/technique? Presently I am leaning towards a PDF with a downloadable or password youtube link to explanations. Thoughts? Max |

Hi Max, pdf/YouTube would work for me.

I think a lot of folks have been waiting for this Max!
I think the sleights and and technique are a huge part of what people would look forward to, but I also think that there could be some demonstrations of how you assemble those skills into one of your great routines. Please keep us up to date on the project!

Thank you Steve, Mandy and Monsieur Bones, for the feedback lads
I will be showing all the sleights I do/use plus the context and very importantly, how I use them in a routine. 2 years ago while performing with the Disks as a Street Performer, I had an idea. A way to do the routine that would be funny, take away the boring 'I win/you lose' theme. The idea is subtle but opened up a whole new world of possibilities. I put a lot of the moves on Youtube but what I do with them, I think, is where the gold is. I haven't shown anyone this on the internet as yet. It's the one thing I've kept to myself...it's gold...all will be revealed Right now I'm leaning towards a PDF describing everything and a video to demonstrate how it works. To simplify things I'll probably use YouTube with a Password. It will take some time as I have a lot on my platter and I want to get it right Max |

I really get the most out of a download with a PDF file. It's the easiest way for me to learn.

I have been playing around with the three disk monte for about a week now. I have just about worked out a crude basic routine. However I am not yet ready to perform by any means!
The first thing to say is that I much prefer using disks than cards! A lesson that I have learnt in the process is that whilst one may, with time, be able to adequately master all the necessary sleights for disk monte, it is all together another thing to be able to put everything together into a progressive and meaningful routine that is long enough! My own routine makes use of a more complex and adapted Rumba show, a Flustration show, false/true shows of various types and of course true/false throws. I aim to start by appearing to clearly show three disks blank both sides. In fact I am starting with two targets and one dummy. Then I use two of the three disks (naturally the two hidden targets) and then introduce the openly introduced target. Thus I am performing with THREE targets from the oft...... From here on it is all fun. One could have two people choose different positions and the only position not chosen will invariably be the target! One could then have a spectator choose any of the cards to be temporarily eliminated. From the two remaining they of course lose again......... All the sleights of hand are aimed at reinforcing the notion throughout that I am somehow moving the one target about amongst the other two dummies. I am still not sure if I even want to reveal that all three of the disks are targets at the end. .??! It may well be counter productive to do so. Good luck with your own routine and assembled ideas. I am sure that your own routine will very likely be better than that of a monte novice like me. I may well have a lot to learn from you. As such I too would be interested to see what you come up with. Andy. |

That's great Andy. Glad you are having fun with the disks and making great progress
I am just about finished Part one of the vid. It should be wrapped up this week. Part one I covers the basics (what you need, hyping the disks, etc) Part 2 will be much more advanced and get into false displays, handlings, etc. I will also go into what I have found as best routines and how I get into the Monte and how I end it all. Plus getting extra disks in and out of play. What to do when the spectator guesses the right disk etc etc Sounds like you're well on your way to Masterting the Monte Cheers, Max |

I just saw this on Lybrary https://www.lybrary.com/3-disk-monte-p-922138.html
I'm interested, does the ebook cover what to use for the disks, or how to obtain them? Robert |

I just grabbed this from Max and it is uniformly excellent!
I've got other DVD's and written work on the discs, and what Max has done surpasses them all, especially if you're using the discs as a major part of your efforts at entertainment, which is Max's specialty. But now I have to ask Al - when are you going to re-open again, after reading and watching Max's fantastic tutorial, I've got discs to order from you!

Disk Monte Sets
I'm sorry for the inconvenience and delay for not taking Disk Set orders at this time. The lease on my building was up at the end of October and the owner is selling the property, so I am moving into another place now. I realize this was bad timing with Max's Disk Monte instructional video coming out, that is really awesome! You can't go wrong in getting this, it is well done. This is not an easy move as I have a lot of machinery and tools. I'm hoping to be back up and taking orders on the first week of November if all goes well. This will only be a temporary shop and will be moving again to a permanent place. This place I will be buying, so I don't have to deal with any more lease problems. If anyone would like me to let them know when I'm ready to start taking disk set orders, just go to the contact page at www.magicswindles.com/contact.html and email me to reply back when I'm back to taking orders. Sorry for the inconvenience, Al
