Hello everyone.
I have always had an admiration for the skill of magic, and I have recently starting dabbling in the art myself. I'm mainly into card tricks, though I am a bit to clumsy for any decent slight of hand, so I am more of a magic mechanic in that I use stacks, gaffs, gadgets, and misdirection to pull things off. I have mainly amused myself by dumbfounding my friends and coworkers. I don't do performances to groups or people I don't otherwise have normal interactions with. Click here to view attached image. |

Welcome Shadowmib,
The method is not as important as the performance and the connection made with the Spectators. It seems like you are getting a great response. Don't think you can't ever learn sleights and such skills. With practice you could be a real Card Mechanic but just a few skills would really enhance your ability to amaze. Keep a video record of your progress. It will inspire you later to see your improvement. By the way, strangers are easier to perform for than Co-workers, Friends and Family. People who know you, know your body language and can spot inconsistencies more easily. -Mary Mowder |

When I first started magic I couldn't even do a normal overhand shuffle with cards or handle cards in any kind of elegant way, so don't be discouraged by being clumsy at first. We were all there, and when learning something new it always takes time to get proficient, so really we're all still there to varying degrees. Always learning.
Pick up the Royal Road to Card Magic or the first volume of Card College if you haven't already. Welcome!
