Hey Everyone,
I've been a lurker & also gained lots of excellent advise from my readings on Magic Café I've loved magic since I can remember, getting little kits & one trick items over the years, I've never given magic the full time it deserves as I've came & went over the years. At the moment I want to get a decent foundation in card magic, I've got Royal Road (which I'm having trouble with the old style writing) & Card College Vol 1 which I find very much like a text book, so I decided to go with Harry Lorayne's 'The Magic Book' as his style is conversational and casual & I like that. So I hope after I give The Magic Book the time it deserves I can read classics with a little more ease. Just a quick hello & overview of where I'm at! Cheers Jamie |

Welcome Scattered.
One of the first tricks I learned from a book was Harry Lorayne's "Out of This Universe". If all Magic Authors were as clear in their writing, I would be more into learning from books. (But then, not all video sources of Magic are clearly explained either.) I guess we'll see you in "The Workers" forum. -Mary Mowder |

For a beginner learner it's a god send, a big text book style approach can be overwhelming for me but hope I'll gain the required skills to work from them also. I'm sure you will indeed see me about "The workers" at some stage, the knowledge level is very high but I'll try my best. Cheers Jamie |

Lots of folks read "The Workers" and leave it to the real card aficionados to do most of the posting.
It lets people with an interest in cards but not a lot of expertise get some insight into the art. Being in that catagory, I don't post there very often myself. -Mary Mowder |

I'm very keen to become fairly competent handling cards, I have basics like charlier cuts, revolution cut, dribble, ribbon spreads, jog shuffle controls etc, I've a long way to go to say that I'd be satisfied with my ability, Jamie |
