Hi Sean, we all should watch your coins across. Not for the method. but rather, to think about making something from a trick or even good magic to a miracle. ending with a jumbo coin after the coins appear and disappear is really in the miracle realm. we all know how to make things like this happen in magic, but sometimes we are content to go with the status quo or what is good enough. so I thank you for giving us an example of pushing the envelope out. I am thinking in terms of planning and maximizing different routines, not just coins across.

Thank you Countrymaven for your kind words. This routine has brought me lots of bookings tbh😄 The coins across element forms the core of the routine, to which I am deeply thankful to David Roth for his superb work. Each coin going across builds progressively, with last two occurring in the spectator’s hand - anything which involves the spectator’s directly certainly IMO makes the magic much more memorable.
The routine has a beginning, middle and end. The coins appear. They go across and then they vanish, with a jumbo production to conclude. Plus, it’s instantly reset and angle proof. As a working magician, these things are vital to me. The reactions of the young lady are also real, and typical of the reactions that the routine gets. Thanks again for your kind words, they mean a lot to me as this routine has been developed over many many years and is, to coin a phrase, my baby. Thank you.
Magically,

Yes Sean , again, I am trying to say that magic could benefit incredibly if we all tried to make at least some of our best tricks of ours into miracles. we have enough resources and info in this information age. we just need to plan out different ways of achieving this. and you have certainly achieved it with this routine. so I actually thank you. this has had a profound influence on me as I start out as a pro.

Interesting article. I like Greg Wilson's impromptu 3 Coin Across from his On the Spot DVDs.

Yes Oz, you reminded me of something. I need to watch Wilson's videos once in a while just to learn how to do magic with panache, with charisma.
Anyone can add some of this to their magic, and Wilson is a great one to watch and emulate. |
