I'm asking the people from Las Vegas we have here, how much wind is in this article? I mean, when I read "... What we should be doing is having a regular ongoing dialogue with our customers to make sure that what they're doing is safe and fun for them and their families", I have a hard time to believe they would ever do that! |

I have not noticed a lot of casinos stopping people from spending the rent money.
I am curious as to how this "dialogue" is intended to happen? I mean the vast majority of casino revenue is from the slots isn't it? If this is the case you are LUCKY if you see an attendant any more unless you call one. I mean for decades the intent is to get you to sit there and let them grind away your bankroll. I don't see that changing. t Seems like good public relations but if you can't figure out that with a roulette wheel that has 38 spaces on it and if you hit one they give you 35 tp one that you are going to lose in the end how much is explaining it to you going to help? Most problem gamblers are so precisely because the logic doesn't matter to explaining to them won't change much. Spotting it and offering help might.

Thanks Dan. I see we are, more or less, on the same line of thinking...

There is an on-going debate on some bill in our parliament at the moment about how much money the casinos pay towards helping problem gambling. They were saying the profits have been going through the roof in recent years but they are only paying the same amount they were years ago. It is not they that help directly but the organizations which the casinos and bookies fund that does. As I recall what they pay is voluntary but they were talking about forcing them, I think. I mean I only saw a bit of the debate.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.
