To calculate the day, we all know we have to subtract 1 from the total if the date is in january or february a leap year. But consider this:
In Sweden, up until 1999, the leap-day was february 24, not february 29. So, the question is, should I only subtract 1 on dates before february 24 in the years from 1999 and back? Does it change the calculation of february 25 to 28? I hope you get what I mean. I'm too stupid to understand myself how to do A little help would be appreciated. |

The so-called 'leap day' may have been celebrated on the 24th Feb up to 1999 in Sweden, but presumably the following day was still the 25th, followed by 26, 27, 28 and 29.
So this shouldn't make any difference to the normal method of calculation. I.e., subtract 1 for all dates in Jan and Feb in a leap year. Mike |

Thank you.
I checked old calendars from 1984 and 1985 that I happen to have, and the names (we have names on each day in our calendar in Sweden, I don't know about the US?) from february 24 and forward were moved ahead one day, but it seems like you are correct anyway. And I also test-calculated for example february 27, 22, 24 and 29 and it worked just fine according to those old calendars. |

It's not necessary because when you reached the "leap day" on the 24th, you didn't skip a weekday or repeat one. So Feb 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th, and 29th, as well as March 1st, etc. were still on the same weekdays as the rest of the world.

This is the so called "Bisextum" - the sixth day before march 1st.
There is no change in tehe calculation. To avoid a leap year correction one can consider january and february as the last months of the last year. |

The months are numbered from 1 for March to 12 for February. The year is assumed to begin in March; this means, for example, that January 1995 is to be treated as month 11 of 1994.
