Really, you want to discuss a $3.75 trick. With no video and no description of what is sent to the customer. It is very difficult to discuss this item.
It really depends on the routine and patter, if any, at all, is given. This kind of patter has to have a cadence to the tearing of the pieces. I would say, just get out your Tarbell Course and do the Six Card Repeat. If you do kid shows, then use a number or alphabet deck of cards. |

Don't let Bills attitude scare you off.... Hopefully someone will chime in that has this trick. Seems like an interesting addition if you already have a newspaper trick / act.

If my memory serves, It's an old routine. I believe it was originally in a Supreme publication with other tricks by the same magician. It seems like it was the late 70s or early 80s when I ran across it. Maybe it was in the Supreme Magic "Magicgram" magazine.
Simply put it is the old six bill/card repeat trick done with newspaper strips torn to roughly bill size. It is also a torn and restored newspaper (single sheet) routine. You will take a sheet of newspaper and tear it into three strips then tear the strips in half giving you six. The six torn strips are counted from hand to hand showing that there are six and only six strips. The repeat part of the trick follows the tearing of the newspaper page. First stage two (2) strips are tossed away and when the packet is counted six strips are seen to remain. Second stage four (4) strips are tossed away and when the pack is counted six strips are seen to remain. Third phase five (5) strips are tossed away and when the question is asked "how many left" the answer is one and the strip is shaken and opens out showing the newspaper page has been restored. At one level it is a torn and restored newspaper trick with the torn pieces tossed away before the restoration. The six strip repeat bit might be seen as muddying the overall effect or maybe the torn and restored paper muddies the six-strip repeat trick. Either way it is a pretty simple little novelty to put together and perform. Having it make sense (a good story or patter line) will pose the real problem. I've never performed it for a real audience. I did put it together once and tried it out on my long suffering family and friends. It got a so-so reaction but that is to be expected for any routine that hasn't been properly rehearsed and performed dozens of times for various audiences I remember giving it to a magician friend that used it pretty regularly for school shows. He liked it. Can't say much more about it. Maybe someone else has more recent experience with it.

By the way I suspect what you get from Penguin Magic is the printed booklet. I suspect that there is postage charged (but don’t know for sure).
I just did a quick search and found that If you wanted immediate gratification (and no postage) you can get this little booklet in PDF form from Lybary.com. https://www.lybrary.com/the-madras-paper......225.html
