I recently heard that Lester Lake of head chopper fame, invented and made the Abbott's Disecto Wrist Chopper for Abbott's since the 1940's until his passing.

I saw this posted recently on the U.F. Grant/MAK Magic Collectors group on Facebook.
This is a MAK French Arm Chopper refurbished by the talented prop maker Randi Rain. http://www.raincloudmagic.com/foam-props/ Amazing what a good paint job can do. She has really mastered the art of faux surface painting. Check out Randi's blog post about how she did it: http://www.projects.randirain.com/french......f-brown/ (photo shows Randi Rain's refurbished version compared to an original MAK version) Click here to view attached image. |

That chopper looks fantastic!!! I only have a few of Randi's smaller props, and had no idea she did larger pieces. Looks like something straight out of the dark ages.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Here's my old disecto at 17:15 of the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_5ugPvNS7U&t=1265s
It's the one that was sold by Douglas Tilford. It was built like a brick SHIFT HOUSE! If you know Disecto, you'll recognize my updates and improvements. Without the crescents, it becomes REALLY deceptive when the blade goes down... The blade is rounded off for safety, with no danger of injury. My friend, Kenneth Havard, has this one now. It's weighted to eliminate the need for a table. I do Choppo now, of course, but I still LOVE Disecto!!! Jimmy www.jimmyfingers.com |

I bought a Delbin double wrist chopper from a Potter & Potter auction. It’s sitting unused for more than 6 months. That’s partly because of Covid, procrastination and finally lack of information on this trick. Finding this forum has been a god send for history, variations, and general information. Thanks.
