I've always been a big fan of the rear palm. The fact that your hands are quite free to handle the cards normally as long as your hand condition is moist and you're only palming a single card is something I'm very fond of. I found a pretty good way of getting a card into the rear palm from the top, but other than that I'm quite lost in regards to its uses. Are there any good resources on general usage of the rear palm, as well as ways of returning the card from the palm to the deck? I realize it could be done pretty easily with some misdirection, but I'm a bit of a move monkey and would like to focus on performing being burned.

I'd recommend two texts: Expert Card Technique and The Collected Works of Alex Elmsley vol 1.

Jonas, ECT features a whole chapter on the Rear Palm. I don't have a copy nearby, but the internet tells me it's chapter 15.

Michael Vincent, On a couple of his dvds. He teaches it on a trick called cards up the sleeves.
