So I'm working on a routine where I tear up a card, give a corner to the audience, then the card appears restored, in an impossible location, minus the corner.
I want to vanish the torn up pieces in a dramatic way... ideas on how to do this? |

That's like asking, "What kind of book should I write?"
What's the premise/plot of the trick? What are your performing conditions? How do you want it to look? . There are a lot of factors that go into these choices. |

Funny, I was just reading the Jerx, Volume 1 and came across this exact plot in a trick called "Hallmark." Andy has a very simple, but effective, way to vanish the pieces, while apparently allowing the spectator to have their choice of the torn pieces. After they choose one, the other pieces are shown to be gone and you can then reveal the card, with the missing corner, in your impossible location.
The book can be tough to get a hold of, so I'm not sure how helpful this is, but if you can track it down, there's quite a bit of good material in there.

There's tons of this type of effect out there. This is what I use to do and use.
Card selected (forced) Corner torn of, given piece to Spectator (use Gaetan Bloom's Intercessor) Tear up rest of card, put into closed hand (I use Fijiwara) Grab orange with other hand, throw in air and catch with closed hand holding ripped card (now in Fujiwara). Show hands empty, grab knife (dump Fujiwara), cut orange open to revealed restored card (prepared before hand) with missing corner. This is a spectacular/worker. Probably giving away to much info, but if you put in the effort time (lots), it can work extremely well. You'll have to do some research and decide if you want to invest in required apparatus. Best |

Rich Marotta performs a card to orange on his dvd set Comedy Magic of Rich Marotta Vol. #2.
He goes into detail utilizing the premise you require.

Other options include dropping the pieces into a card box but having the wrong card (callback to prior routine) in the box when you open it again. You know, as a magician you're allowed some flexibility in your dramatic structure. It's not all Hogwarts homework. It's not wrong to take the prices and turn them into a dollar bill using your TT. As stated earlier, you're writing the book. What story do you want your audience to read from your actions?
