Have not played Baccarat in some time, but as I recall the high stakes Baccarat games in Vegas use 8 decks. Usually the entire 8 decks are replaced after just dealing one time through the shoe. In those games, the players can physically handle their two card hands, and the Asians mutilate the cards badly when looking at their cards. It is almost a ritual the way they badly bend and mutilate the cards.

In the Mini Baccarat games, the players usually do not handle their two card hands, so the cards are not replaced at the end of each shoe.

Paper cards are used in all Baccarat and table games to protect the house. Plastics are only used in Poker.

Yes likewise in Chemmy games except Chemmy is not a house game and thus its card security is not about protecting the house but is about protecting the players. The cards have white backs but one can mark them with a mill. See: http://www.dougiethompson.com/the-hustlers.htm
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Six decks are used in Chemmy here as under French rules.

Oh I get it...I think. The Carpenters' Pencils are used to mark the white backed cards. No?

Be kind with you answer. I have a limited understanding of card table chicanery. Smile

They are old school. Casinos these days give the players Baccarat pens and scorecards. https://www.kardwell.com/baccarat-pens-pencils.html

What would James Bond have to say about this. "Q" would probably have to give him a Baccarat laser pen where he could to read the cards before they came out of the shoe.

Say, I could use something like that.

We do not use white back cards at all Chemmy parties of course – only where evening dress is required.
