I'm pretty determined to get a couple Axtell monster puppets when I can come up (cough, cough!) with the dough. I've been wanting one for a looooooong, loooooong time.

But gasp! Those things are not cheap! And that's without the arm rod and magnets! If you add those nice things, the price becomes sky high!

But from photos I have seen, to me they seem to have great eye appeal, and I think with my vocal ability, I could surely endure them with great personality,

Just wondered if anyone here owns one, and if people naturally like them. I guess what I'm asking is are they as commercial as my mind is thinking they are?

Also, if you have worked with one, have you experienced any children being afraid of them?

I own two Axtell Puppets but neither are monsters; except for Behemoth, but he is a demon in cat form who enjoys a good cigar.

I mostly buy from Pavlov's now ( I own 8) As far as justifying the purchase that is up to you, but for each purchase I made I had story lines, scripts, backdrops, and props already planned out. I expect to make my investment back.

If that puppet speaks to you and you can input a personality into it... then go for it. Worse case scenario you wcan sell it a year later (they have decent resale value) and you will have learned a few things along the way.
I still recall the day I met Beaker from the Muppets. He said to me "Meep, meep, mee mee mee Meep!", and that has made all the difference.

I actually had several of the Axtell bird puppets at one time, ( https://youtu.be/x3gKVqrOSfU ) but in the process of separation from my ex, we got separated by over 700 miles, and they sit in her storage shed, along with my Daniel Duggins ( https://youtu.be/yTxwZHh9vMo ) whom you see in my avatar. Most likely rotting away or being eaten by vermin.

I really liked the birds, but I have to face it that they are probably gone forever. But I sure see a lot of potential in the monster puppets..

Yeah, latex does not like sheds.

My Ex got the sports car and bedroom furniture. I got all the bills with one (Trash removal) in collections.
