Hello,
So recently I mentioned I've been getting into more mentalism etc as opposed to close up which is what I previously specialised in. I purchased a few books recently which I am working my way through gradually: Bruce Bernstein's book, Unreal - it is unreal! - highly recommended, working through it slowly but it's like a bible. Ian Rowland - The Full facts book of Cold Reading - Also very good Quick and Effective Cold Reading - Richard Webster. I'm still trying to find direction on where I want to go, performance techniques. I've been looking at other magicians performance techniques, tricks and was interested in some of the "mindreading" performances done by Lior Suchard. I know how some of his other tricks are done and like the spin he puts on things. When watching videos such as : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdH2kulryN0 - From minute 10 onwards. I was interested into some guidance on how this to achieve these sorts of effects, where I can find more information to learn more etc. This has me lost. Thanks, Aks |

Hi Aks,
these are some pretty good books you're reading right now. I would recommend you to also learn a reading system (like tarot or palmreading) at some point. I found that it helped my readings in the beginning very much to have some "real" system on which to base them on. I can very much recommend Paul Voodini's "Palm Reading For Magicians" which is available I think as an ebook and a also as a downloadable video. As for Suchard's routines: I think you'll have to contribute a little bit more to this forum so people can get to know you a little better. Also if you read a lot of the classics, talk to other mentalists and are a little bit patient I am sure you will find approaches personal to you that will help you to do even more impossible things then shown in the video. Kind regards, Axel |

Hi Axel,
Thank you for the recommendation. It's completely different and new but very interesting. Not requiring gimmicks is a personal preference for me, just means I can entertain anywhere. I'll definitely check Paul Voodini's work out. As expected, it's a gradual learning curve but there's some great information on this forum. Thank you for the response, it's much appreciated. Kind regards, Adam |
