Lately, I have been using the new state quarters. The fact that they are the same on the front, but different on the back is very useful. Card forces like hot rod work well with them. The problem is they are small and hard to see, especially for older people. I do a lot of magic in dr.'s office, senior center, ect. Does anyone know of any dollar sized coins that are the same on one side, but each one is different on the other side? Replica coins would be ok.

Is it okay to just use the dates on a bunch of dollar or half dollar coins?
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Try military challenge coins. These have several advantages - The big advantage is that the different faces are QUITE distinct. Visually, a particular challenge coin, perhaps a selected coin, will stand out much more strongly from the others than the different designs of state quarters will. There are also presentation possibilities, such as a historical theme, or a nautical theme for Navy challenge coins.
Below is a link to one possibility. I'm not necessarily recommending this set (though it does look quite promising), it was just an easily-found example of what I'm talking about: https://www.bradfordexchange.com/product......oin.html Double-check to make sure that I'm not steering you wrong, but I believe this set has identical backs. You could order two sets to have duplicate prediction coins for your revelation. Maybe search eBay for other possibilities? With about seven coins, using PATEO would be ideal. If you acquire a set with at least 11 coins, shoot me a PM and I'll point you to a very fair-seeming selection that reduces the possible outcomes from 11 to 2. |

I cannot verify the quality but I typed - Large replica state quarters - into google and this was the first result. Looks like 3" reps of about 26 different states for $3 each.

Poof, this is exactly what I am looking for. I did a search as well, but didn't get this page. I'm going to order six of them. Using the dates would not work, because the people I perform for have poor eyesight. The military coins are a good idea, but don't appeal to women.
I use the hot rod force or Kismet force. I let them look at the quarters and tell me what state they are. I ask if they have been there. Then I have them put their finger on any coin. The coin they end up with is the same I've written on a paper, which they have been holding since the start of the trick. It takes about five minutes and they seem very entertained. All in all, a winner for a simple trick. Thanks for all the help. |

Those are cool, thanks for the link.
Makes me think of a lot of possibilities. I love ending a coin routine with producing a jumbo coin, maybe this could add some type of a mentalism kicker to it as well. |
