Hey everyone
Many years ago I watched one of the best coin magic DVD's out there: Jay Sankey's Revolutionary Coin Magic. The DVD features a lot of really great moves, but there was one that I could never master, I can't remember the name but it was a four coin production that had him hold the coins in classic palm, wave the hands over the mat and in one smooth motion release four coins one by one into a straight line production on the mat. You can see it at exactly 0:18 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfQF--0jIss It's a really visual move that I would love to be able to perform, and God knows I tried, but I could never make it look good enough, not even close! What are some moves that you guys could just never get-down? |

I’ve struggled with that one myself. I never could get it down consistently or get the coins to lay evenly spaced. Dry skin doesn’t help.
It’s a beautiful effect if you can do it.

I love Jay Sankey, he's a wonderful close-up man with some tremendous effects in his arsenal. He's also a funny guy and has wrapped all that up in his magic. He can be a bit over-the-top at times but his magic is pretty good stuff, from the simple to the challenging, coins, cards, whatever.
His "Revolutionary Coin Magic" is just a lot of creatively clever/zany Sankey style work with several good pieces in it well worth the time & effort. And that 4 coin production is one of them alright. Ain't easy (just gotta get the touch for it) but wherever the practice leaves you with it, you're better for it. I think his "Mr Clean Coins Across" is on there too, definitely one of the most popular coins across ever. At one time, everyone was doing it. One of the moves I remember that was pretty cleverly done was how instead of the coin just going through the table, he would make it come back "up" through the table. It's looks and sounds wonderful. Also, his creative uses of the TP were to me well worth the price of admission. Hey, and I still do his Flying Shuttle Pass. There's a lot of good stuff on that DVD, and it should be sitting on every coin worker's magic shelf for quick review. It sorta reminds me of jazzing-up an old standard song, like Ray Charles did with "America The Beautiful"...Remember that? It's what makes the common "uncommon," somewhat magically changing it into something much more memorable & interesting.
