Since I started this thread it's gone a little bit towards a discussion specifically on the Rhino..
What are people actually using right now, and what have they used in the past? Why did you keep it in the show? why did you get rid of it? |

I just purchased Up Up and Away. Easy to perform. Gets great audience reactions. Quick set up time.

THOUGHTS ABOUT JOHN PIZZI’S “UP-UP-AND-AWAY” LEVITATION
I really like this Illusion and it is very practical. That said, I think we Magicians must ask ourselves more QUESTIONS. Each of us will come up with different answers, but if we don’t ask questions we won’t find creative, imaginative answers. YOU will come up with a routine that fits your style and audience, but asking internal questions can make real Magic. With this Levitation I asked myself: a) Why a metal table without any reason to be there? b) Why wrap the child in a sparkly cloth? c) What is the reason for floating a child in the air? This is the answer (and presentation) that came from asking those three questions: PREMISE – We need more Superheroes in the World today. Young Superheroes. And someone with a big Heart can become a hero, with a bit of Magic! PROPS – the table is a Presentation Stand from another planet, or dimension, or time. The cloth is now a Superhero Magic Cape of power. The cape should not be all sequins and glitter, more like Superman/Woman, one color satin with another satin trim. Appliqued on the back is the word YOU. To make the table appear as a presentation stand, you’ll need a plexiglass dome (like the ones restaurants use to cover desserts.) Under the Dome, on the stand, is the Flying Cape, carefully folded. PRESENTATION: “A magical hero cloak was put into my care, it is from another place (name planet, dimension, etc.) We need more strong, generous people with big hearts in our world today. Young people who will grow up to make a big difference in our World. I think I see someone who is perfect to try on the Cloak!” “Hello! What’s your name? Are YOU a Superhero? Do YOU have a great heart? (remove the dome from the stand, remove the cape, and display only the front of the cloak) “YOU can be a Superhero! I see a Powerful Woman in YOU.” (turn the cloak around so the hero’s “name” YOU shows) “Now I can show you how to wear the magical Cloak and how to Fly!” (child is helped up on the stand) NOTE: Please do not use a plastic stool, find a metal one that matches nicely with the table, wrong props can stop people’s imagination in its tracks. ~~Instruct the child how to hold their hands like wings to “fly” and how to move their feet to “swim” though the air. ~~Then drape the Cloak over their back and around their neck. ~~The cape will hang over the child just enough to cover the gimmick. ~~After the child has flown and is now standing on the stage again: “There! You’ve worn the Cloak of Great Courage, you will grow into a powerful and loving person. You are forever changed by that Magic!” That’s what I came up with. Post your own creations that will help make this Illusion even more powerful and beautiful! Click here to view attached image. |

Unbelievable! How could I possibly come up with my own creation "that would help make this Illusion even more powerful and beautiful" than you have just done? I could not have come up with that. Reading your book has revealed some of my creative limitations. If I had "Up, Up & Away", I would ask your permission to use that! LOL!
