At Penguin if you get Three Rings you get a free download called "Lazarus". I used this today for a devotion. I hope I do not break any rules but I will not reveal the secret.
The trick is that you have someone light a match after you lit yours. You blow out the match, and he does as well. Then you grab the top of the match and take it off, they do the same. Then you place your top of the match back on and they follow you, but they can't. Then you strike your match again and it lights up. I used this illustration to show that as a Christian, our light is to shine among men. Yet, when sin enters into our life it seeks to destroy our witness and even making it at times seem impossible for us to be used by God again (that is represented by the blowing out of the flame and the taking off the top of the match). Yet, God's grace is upon us. When we repent and turn back to God, he can make the desolate a light for Him again. Yet, like others who try to light their own light... it cannot be done by us but by God's grace upon us. Only God can take a desolate match and make it shine again... and while we may think it is impossible to shine again God can make a miracle happen. I thought I would share this with you.

I hadnt' heard about that effect, although I am big Sanky fan and regularly perform some of his stuff. Thanks for pointing it out.
And thanks for the explanation of how you use it. You didn't break any rules at all. Sharing a routine for a commercial effect is just fine as long as you don't give away the secret, which you did not do. I like what you did, and that seeded the thought process, and I am beginning to see a lot of possibilities for this effect! Thanks again for sharing it with us. BroDavid

Sounds a lot like Francis Carlyle's match "Decapitation" in Stars of Magic, look it up, it's good.
If you were a hotdog, and you were starving...would you eat yourself? I know I would!

Spurgeon, thanks! I have that one, got it from Penguin the same way you did. I'll have to use that idea some time! Good thinking.
