I asked about the 3 coin aquitment, and all of you guys helped a lot. I was hesitant before, but now I'm definitely going to buy both of Kainoa's books. (If you're reading this, thanks Kainoa!) Therefore I want to get ready for it and learn the edge grip before I buy them.
Anyways, I've been trying to do the edge grip based on Bobo's coin magic, but am having some problems understanding which fingers go where on the coin. Can any of you help me with where you place your fingers, or possibly how you guys have improved on it? (I don't need sources, but if you guys are willing to give me your own pointers it would be appreciated.) Also, if any of you have any tips for putting multiple coins into edge grip, I'd love to hear it. Oh, and are there any routines in Bobo's that utilize the edge grip? Thanks a million. -Peter

EG is barely touched upon in MCM.
The standard reference is Roth's Expert Coin Magic, or his videos. Look for a trick titled Hanging Coins. A couple of my sleights made it into Apocalypse back in the 1980s. These being the Retention to Edge Grip and a couple of transfers. From there... Kainoa's Coins on Edge. Like the Ramsay Fingerpalm, this is easily abused and you need to learn to manage audience angles a bit to use this concealment effectively.

Roth deals with the edge grip in AMAZING detail. Check out UCM as well as his ECM.
In fact...he was a big pioneer in this sleight if I recall, and he even named it (as there wasn't a name previous to that).

Thanks guys. I think I'll check out Roth's videos.
Jonathan....you use the edge grip as a retention vanish? I have to see this.

The move I use takes the coin into Edge Grip from a retention pass. This is also the start of the EG2EG switch. Kainoa has the move in his book. Chalk it up to fun in high school

I suggest you wait until you get Coins On Edge...I learnt the Edge grip from here and found it quite easy. I had previously tried to learn from Expert Coin Magic, and found it a lot harder. I also found that it took quite a lot of practice before I felt comportable performing the Edge Grip.
Definatly learn from Kainoa... Owen |

I might be mistaken but in bobos , wasn't it edge palm not edge grip?

This one is different from the edge palm...as the edge palm takes place in the palm and the grip is in the fingers.

There is a little coin trick toward the front of the book that puts and takes coins into edge grip, though does not mention the concealment by any name. David Roth coined the term.
