I'm working on a version of the visual coins across plot with 3 different coins. I've heard this has been done in the past. Could anyone inform me where I can find versions of this?
Thanks in advance

Yes, Alex it has been considered, done and published. The thing was first toyed with well over twenty years ago.
You can find published versions of the effect available from Reed McClintock among others.

I second that on Kranzo. His routine is very nice and visual and easy to do.

With just a bit of creativity, you can use the C/S/B gaff and make up a version that is VERY effective.

I have one, that has not been published, mine LOOKS similar to Nate Kranzo's but the method is different and I don't use the gaff he does.

I've heard only good things about Nate's version of the trick. Same for Reed and a few other folks.
Reed has a new version due out SOON (i hope) that takes the trick in a nice new direction in look and mechanics. For some reason... I half expect to see someone do the trick as a sort of Run Rabbit Run routine using coins. A waking nightmare or just a presentation option?

Leave it to Dave Neighbors to come up with not one but several! Hope to see them some day David.
Johnathan Townsend mentioned that it was considered over twently years ago. I'm glad Johnathan Townsend decided to hold some coins at his fingertips because that is what got Chris Kenner thinking. He took that image and ran with it! Then turned it on it's head and created a new beast which we now refer to as 3-Fly. I recenlty spoke with Chris Kenner and he said when he came up with 3-Fly he also played around with using three different coins. I know Chris Korn has handlings as well. All the above men where playing with the idea well over a deacde ago. I'm sure Mr. Neighbors has been playing with it for several years as well. Unfortunately I don't know the handlings will ever see the light of day. Except for David's! I published mine on my Outside The Box DVD. It uses a Sun and Moon gaff that Todd Lassen made for me. Shortly after my release Reed McClintock published his on his Coin Patriot DVD. And I believe those are the only two published as of now. I could be wrong, you guys know of any others? I personally think that using half dollar sized coins for this plot is very weak. But that's just my opinion. Ok not just mine. Kenner, Korn, and others agree. Probably the coolest one I've SEEN is Lee Asher's. He uses three different silver dollar sized casino chips (three different coins could also be used). It will soon be published as an insert in the next Channel One magazine. To find out more about Channel One go to: http://www.rfaproductions.com Best, Nathan

I concur Lee's is very good. I don't think its published but Karl Hein also has a version.
I worked out a few versions of the effect but have given it up. My reason is that I don't beleive it is anymore impressive to a layperson than the standard versions. If you can really make coins travel from one-hand to the other why should three different coins be any more impressive? Is this a for magicians effect? I have my theories interested in others thoughts. Cheers, Jason |

I have to start by asking what motivates the coins to travel. Suggesting the clever performer has to do much magic to accomplish what could be done via a simple hand to hand transfer ... just does not sit well with me. I've posted SEVERAL presentation setups on the café. Curtis hinted at another full routine type basis too.
SO... why do the lion, the witch and the wardrobe jump from hand to hand?

Hey Jason!
You're right, I forgot about Karl's! He showed it to me when I lectured for his ring. Do you know if he published it? Sub-plots like these are more of just a creative excersize for me. Just because I'm happy with my solution doesn't make it a killer effect. I agree about it being a magician type thing. For me it was just a challenge to myself to solve the problem. I did and then moved on. I never perform International 3-Fly when I work for real people. Every once in a while somone will request it at one of my lectures, so I do it. But for my money 3 Silver Dollars passing from my left hand to my right is as strong as it can get. "If you can really make coins travel from one-hand to the other why should three different coins be any more impressive?" I think you are right Jason. This will only impress someone who truly cares like maybe an engineer, or a coin magician. Ok, probably just the later. Best, Nathan

Is that the best you can do? How do your audiences react to your unicorn chase routine? A C. S. Lewis fan?

Peter... The inserts are a SPECIAL bonus ONLY for subscribers to Channel One magazine... The have included things like Don Alans Devano Rising Card routine, Nate Kranzo's Moving Tan Line (called by H&R their most stolen item), Mike Powers's Birthda Calander trick, Anders Modens Healed And Sealed (before it was commercially released or featured by Tim Ellis), and many others...The last issue had a SIGNED CARD TO NIPPLE RING (for real!!)by Jason Dean and next we are proud to present, Lee Ashers 3 Styling...in my humble opinion, one of the prettiest versions around...But yes... the inserts are for subscribers only... We like to think the magazine itself is very cool... but we want to give our subscribers a bit of extra love...
