Is http://www.magicsupply.com a good place to do some internet shopping? Does anyone have any experience with this supplier? Or is there a better place with cheaper prices and better quality?

Greetings and Salutations limhanchung,
I've dealt with Kirk at Magic Supply on numerous occasions at his brick-and-mortar store, and he has always dealt with me fairly, and his prices and quality are comparable to what you will find elsewhere. I also deal with Denny & Lee, Hank Lee's, U.S. Toy, Klamm and H & R Books, and all are in my first tier of bookmarks, i.e., the first places I look when searching for an effect, prop or book. Hope this helps.

I use Hocus Pocus, MagicSmith's and Hanklee's as they have on line shops. I haven't had any trouble with any of them. Hocus Pocus seems to be the cheapest if you're one of their on line members.

Over the past three weeks I've used,

Hocus-pocus
The magic warehouse
Magic Supply
Daytona Magic
Penguin Magic
MagicGeek
Jeff Busby
Magic Inspirations
Steve Fearson
A (squared) Productions

The first two seem to have the best prices overall, but I've gone to the other sites for particular items based on price or availability (i.e. they are sole source).

Also don't forget to check with individuals. You can find some one-of-a-kind, real-world tested effects with them. I'm in the middle of completing orders with:

(1) Peter Marucci for some tricks, lecture notes, and booklets (checks in the mail Peter! REALLY!) Smile

and

(2) Charles Gauci for two effects of his that he will be using on his upcoming lecture tour.

Not only am I getting great stuff, but I'm getting to know these fine gentlemen through the exchange of emails.

Love these guys! --> Smile Smile Smile Smile

A question like that seems to assume everyone makes and supplies the same items.

Some dealers sell some exclusive items so you are not going to find better quality cheaper versions elsewhere!

Sure, it may pay to shop around for some things, but it helps if you know what you want to buy in the first place rather than making impulse buys. Some of the mass marketed available everywhere tricks often seem to be the most over-hyped - for the sole purpose of selling to the masses.

If you want to be different, you should look for stuff that is not mass marketed, then when you find something good - keep quiet about it! Smile

Magic Warehouse.com gets my vote. Shipping and the items themselves are much cheaper than what you will see in other places.

Hope my words were of help!

Penguin magic is a great place to go. Quick shipping, low prices, and lots of effects.

Yep, and if you find an item that is priced lower somewhere else, e-mail penguin magic and they will either beat the price or offer you a discount or a free item! Wow! Smile

Just had a great experience with David Malek over at http://www.elmagicshop.com

Wanted a copy of Bannons "smoke and mirrors" but my local dealer was trying to scalp me for it. *$5 over retail!* I found a great price on it at Daytona magic, but they didn't have it in stock. Dave Malek didn't have it in stock either, but... He got it to me in a total of only four days! And, he matched the low price that Daytona was offering.

Highly recommended dealer.

I'm from Malaysia. I stay quite far away from the big cities. It's a small town here. There isn't even a single magic supply store nearby.

http://www.magicsmith.com will meet and or beat any advertised price. They are huge and have most everything in stock – plus – they ship fast and at a good price.

You can watch a myriad of effects on their video demo page – and see before you buy.

You can scour the net – and chose the lowest prices on 10 different effects and then turn around and get them all from magicsmith for that SAME PRICE – and save on shipping.

You can’t beat that…Chris Smith the owner is a Magic Castle member and also the official magician for the Anaheim Angels. (so he knows his stuff) And his staff answers questions for you in 24 hours.

I won’t go anywhere else.
