I’ve been using this routine in my close-up work for a few years now and it is absolutely devastating to an audience and sooooo much fun to perform. It only comes in manuscript form (although there is a performance-only on Richard Sander’s Close-Up A**assin video companion) and requires some time to get the sequence of moves down, but the time spent is well worth it. I also chose it because I don’t know of anyone else in my area performing it. It makes the Professor’s Nightmare seem like a daydream!

I'm not familiar with the routine but will look into it. Have you heard of "Full Circle"?

I have both. "Baby is a strong routine--I’d give it an 8.5 or 9 on a scale of 1-10. Full Circle is a ring and rope routine. It’s okay (maybe a seven), but WAY overpriced--you get a VERY short video, a CHEAP plastic ring, and a piece of rope.
If you want to learn some killer rope magic, there are five guys who are the "kings of rope magic." George Sands, Francis Tabary, Ron Dayton, Daryl, and my mentor, Aldo Colombini. If you’re looking for a strong ring and rope routine, I’ll immodestly say that I think my own stacks up with the best of them. 3RAAB is now available in video format for the same 15 clams! Some parts are very strong, some parts, I didn’t buy into, but I am working on it.
Sanders was just here (No. Ca.) and his material is deceptively well thought out. Acer was with him and the two of them packed a lot of punch into a 3 hour lecture. Something for everybody was not a cliché. Tom Cutts |

As someone who has used Sander’s routine in the ’real world’ at almost every table hopping gig I have done in the past two years (not at every table, but I do it as often as I can!), I can honestly say that this is top class magic. On the rating scale I’d give it 9 out of 10.
I’ve played around with adding bits in and taking parts out, but for the flow of the routine, it’s best to leave it as described in my opinion. --Andi _________________ Check out - A2 Productions my all new website - http://www.asquaredproductions.com

If you can get hold of Jean Merlin’s notes on the rope, do buy it. Merlin covers many variations with ropes. His notes are so well illustrated that no text is required - I learned simply by looking at the illustrations. Un-gimmicked linking loops of rope, prepared in-front-of-them professor’s nightmare, a cut and restored sequence in which the hands ARE separated, and even a monte type routine.
Dan Korem had nice rope bits in his stand up book, and Flip Hellema had absolutely fabulous stuff in his lecture on knots. FISM winner Tabary drew heavily from Flip.

The routine is availiable on tape, I picked up a copy when Richard lectured in Portland. It's a killer routine with some great stuff, but it's a little frantic for my liking. I prefer Daryl's routine, but am thinking about adopting some of what I found in 3 Ropes...

Well, I don't know about Hocus Pocus, but you can get it at Click Here I have always had good results when ordering from MagicSmith. You can also see a demo of it on their site if you haven't already seen it. Hope this helps!

I started with 3 Ropes and loved it, it took about 3 weeks at 20 minutes a day to get the whole bit "down", but you are learning as you go, so at any time you have some stuff to show, and then a day or two later you have a bit more. I followed on with Full Circle and yes it is overpriced cheap crap but you do get new ideas. Daryl's routine is a good alternative handling of the PN.
Incidentally when I started the Tabary routine (which I love) it also took about 3 weeks at 20 minutes a day....

Hello all,
Richard's routine is absolutely incredible. I also second a previous post about the skill with rope of Colombini. Richard Sanders TRAAB and the marvelous Colombini routine Mamma Mia Rope Trick are both available from the publisher http://www.camirandmagic.com You won't be disappointed Later... Martin |
