Yup!
I published the PRESENTATION that I've done for about 50 years, in my book. It's so strong that, as mentioned above, I dumped the multiplying balls! The Perpetual Balls, & the Bill Williston ball penetration thru the silk, are the two main tricks in the routine. (I use the ball roll flourish, as I start the ball routine.) Abbott's still sells the PERPETUAL BALLS ($5.00, I think.) --I paid Percy Abbott one dollar for it in 1950! I consider it one of the best dollars I ever spent! (Tell Greg that I "sent" you! so, ethically, I can't reveal the "handling". The basic ROUTINE provided, is "meh" IMO. I developed a PRESENTATION that SELLS! (especially with the elementary school age, but, high school kids like it, too. (They just don't laugh as "big" as the little ones do. Oh! I tip the method for the Williston bit, plus the PRESENTAION that I developed which gets the laugh, and APPLAUSE! The ball routine runs four minutes, and, it MEETS MY CRITERIA! The "extra" finish (Karrell Fox's "Ballomatic") was given to me by Karrell in 1970. It was originally published in a "Phoenix" magazine in one of the Jay Marshal "era" Phoenixes. I had, somehow missed it. I think FAKINI will make one up, but, they aren't cheap!

It's routines like this, that make the book worth $50.00. When I was starting out, I would cheerfully have spent $50.00 for just this one routine!

Anything from Dick Oslund would be worthwhile buying. He is an authority on magic, what a pro.
Maybe I am not professional enough, but I choose not to do the coin roll. I want to appear as a slow moving, not too dexterous magician. For me, and perhaps not for you, this allows me to set up miracles, which cannot be attributed to dexterity. For me, this allows me to do "palm rolls" hidden from the audience. I am humorously calling this a "palm roll"-- secretly manipulating coins from one palm to another. Bertini does this to an extreme but extremely smoothly. For me the big takeaway from his magic is to get used to secretly change the palming positions of coins. When a spectator thinks they figure out it is in the finger palm, they find out it is gone, not there. I have found this to be very deceptive. I appreciate coin rolls and see their place in others' work. I just thought I might share this. |

Learning the coin roll teaches you that your hands can do some pretty amazing acrobatics if only given enough time and practice. And it looks cool...
