Alright, does anybody know whose collection this is?
I've never seen this much high quality stuff up for auction in one catalog ... ever. That's somebody's lifetime of "work" right there. |

Some of it is Ron Wohls collection. Really some great items for sale. I would love to own that gaffed Will and Finck faro box.

Several items I recognize from Steve Forte's GPS DVD Special Features where they do a tour of Steve Forte's museum (e.g. Ivory Poker Chips, Chuck-a-Luck Cage with Two Dice, and Cold Deck Machine ca. 1900).

Even if you don't bid on anything, if you have any interest in gambling history get the hard copy catalog. Clear color photos of everything, top quality paper - it's a treasure.

It's not a single collector's assemblage. Several high-quality collections put together.

The quality is extremely high for this auction, and the multiple examples of some of the items is amazing.
A faro box collector (for example) would have to take note, as this many boxes in one place is rare, if not precident setting. |

Artie,
There is an advanced collector in S. California that is said to have over 100 faro boxes, the vast majority of which are gaffed. He also owns Vernon's faro box that the professor used to talk his way into gambling supply houses back in the day. Jason

Thanks for that info Jason, I had no idea.
I was thinking "for sale" when I wrote my post, but didn't include the actual word ... "this many boxes for sale in one place is rare ..." |

Click that site again. Potter has a free download of a beautiful full color book they will release next month.
One of the last living 10-in-one performers. I wanted to be in show business the worst way, and that was it.

Just received mine in the post. Unfortunately a bit of damage from the travel but a nicely produced catalog to have, and full of some amazing items. Collectors could (and likely did) spend a fortune at this auction.
