Hi,
I'm having trouble learning the Flip Change from the SFS notes on 3 card monte I know it's mentioned that this is more difficult than either the flip, or forward flip, but I'm failing to get the card into toss/hype position as it's tuned over. Does the Left hand index finger contact the face of the card as it turns over? Basically what I want to know is how to get from the position in Photo 38 to that in Photo 39 in the SFS notes, and from there, presumably it's part of the same action to place (or toss) the card to the table. Also regarding the Forward flip move (this isn't so much a problem as a request for opinions), does anyone have an opinion on using the card in the left hand to further "sell" the move. By which I mean that the left hand card is picked up in the Left Hand, and goes either below the centre card as the Right hand card goes over the centre card, as if BOTH cards are being used to flip the centre card over forwards (or alternatively, the left hand card can go above both the right and centre cards for a similar impression) - note: the left hand card plays no part in the mechanics of the move, but just acts to make the switch somewhat harder to follow.. thoughts? |

The left hand finger should contact the middle of the left edge of the upturned card to help keep it in place as it it turned. You can also pick up a card in the left hand, and use a corner of it to hold the upturned card steady. You can use the left hand card as you describe to help cover the move. I like to adjust the position of the switched card slightly with my left hand--requiring that I put the left hand card in the right--this helps justify putting both cards in the same hand and puts me in position to do a Flash Hype or Flustration Move with the right hand.

Thanks Pop for your help, I think I'm getting there. While I was looking into this, I noticed that Chef Anton (at least in this video ) does the switch by turning the card onto the table and then just dropping remaining right hand card and pulling the original away - I guess that's another way of doing it.
