Hi all
Can anybody give me an instuction or hint how to gimmick Irish 8 / Darby / Hamburg handcuffs. I'v read it should be an easy thing. Some slit needs to be filed but haven't found a detailed explanation. If you don't want to tell here plz feel free to send me a PM. Thank you in advance El PS. Plz don't tell me to buy gimmicked ones. I own 2 pairs of ungimmicked ones.

Hi--The Darbies and the "Hamburg 8" each require their own method of gaffing (i.e. A "Hamburg 8" is not operated & gaffed like a "Darby"/"Irish 8").
Are you specifically asking about gaffing the "Irish 8" or the "Hamburg 8"? |

Hi Mox
Thank you for the advice. I'm going to post a picture tomorrow. I got them at a garage sale and used them just for decoration. Now I decited to use them for performing. Elrondo

Yes! A picture will help!
I have a pair of Hamburg 8s, gaffed by Trudel, years ago.

Hiya
I did some research and found out it is a Hamburg 8. I talked to a hand cuff collector on the phone and he knew how to gaff them. It's not a hard thing to do. I thank you all for your responses. Greets El

Actually, You have to know the correct side, to it’s too easy for someone else to get out,
and additionally, there are three methods for hamburg 8S

I uised the slit method and made it so I have to really bend my hands over to get out - hurts a bit but it makes it more impressive.

Yes That’s because you put it on the correct side - the other side makes it too easy for a spec to get out,
But what are the other two methods? PM me.

Yeah Dave!
I would be interested in the other methods, too. (If you are willing to share them!) I got mine from C. Thomas MAGRUM, when he retired. Clem got them from Trudel. I have the original instructions.

Hi Dave,
would you share the other two methods with me too? Maybe one of the other methods is working better for me. Because of my disabilities I mostly need to figure out how I can make routines work for me. So it would be a chance to pick the smoothest working method for me. TY Elrondo

Hi Dave
sorry for the confusion. This was a kind of freudian So I hope Jay comes up with the other two methods. I own a couple of trick locks. I could use those too but the hamburg handcuffs look imho a bit more impressive. Can't even affort buying more magical stuff like locks this month. Just got me an Erdnase Bible. Had it as an ebook but some books I like to have with real ink on real paper. Cu Elrondo
