Has anyone ever had a shell warp? With all this shell talk I looked at mine and it’s kinda got a little concave tweak going now...don’t know when this happened..I always keep it nested on a coin...and in a coin purse...Can I straighten this out? Use a hammer or what???
Any tips?

Hi Lonnie!
I once had the unfortunate experience of having a spectator grab the gaffed coins from my hands and then proceed to curiously test its, "bendability"; tried to bend the gaff, and pretty much ruined it!
Could one of your spectators have bent it without your knowing it?
Just my opinion, but I can’t see it warping on its own!

Nah... it’s amazing I have never been busted using a shell or any other coin gimmick.
I keep my crowds under control...
But!! I did once have a person pick up a shelled coin and she didn’t even notice the shell... she just looked at the coin and put it down... I wonder what my face looked like cause I was just scared frozen.
So I have to forget about a spectator bending it, it is just a little warp...
it just wobbles a little bit.
It still covers the coin and works...
but it bugs me.
I’m beginning to think that my Twin brother switched shells on me... he does things like that.

I had a ’flipper coin’ that got bent up (not sure how? probably my wife in a fit of anger... ’Darn this magic c**p’  )anyway, I tried to straighten it, but only made it worse. So I seperated the 3 pieces and bent them. then stuck them together in a ’ball’ shape with wax. then during a coin routine, I would switch this in and squeeze the coin. It then looked like I smashed it in my fist!! This is really effective. You vanish and reproduce 1 coin several times, finally crushing it in your hands. It is POWERFULL!!

I put my Hopping half set into my wallet which I usually caryy in my jacket pocket, but wehen I take my Jacket off, I slip the wallet into my pants pocket.
I then proceeded to sit down and since the wallet didn't have(never has) much of anything in it for padding, the wallet flexed and bent part of the set. I tried to straighten it and pretty much created a rather interesting "Coin-like" twisted metal sculpture. 
So I bought another full set and over the years, when the situation was right, a couple of steps into the routine I have introduced part of the old set from under a salt shaker and bring it into the routine with the new two "coins" to offer a bit of extra magic.

I always wondered if I was the only one who had problems with shells bending. I dicovered by holding the shell with both hands at the finger tips, put the thumbs in the shell area & bend with fingers slowly bending the shape back into it.
As for the edges bending, put a coin in the shell and push the coin outwards against the rim and that helps also.
For tip top shells and gaffs look for todd lassen
