I think Bloodyjack's suggestion of scoring the plywood with the blade is a great idea. Then you could fill and sand if you're painting. Also Bill Palmer suggests to cut slightly oversized and sand and this is a good idea too. I don't know that I can add anything here except to say that a professional carpenter told me, "the difference between a professional and an amateur (and I am speaking skill level here) is how they cover up their mistakes."
At home depot I bought some cheap blond colored wood filler. It came in a plastic tub. It's great for patching up litle dents, nicks and tears in plywood. I use a palet knife as an application tool. -=tabman

Many great tips here!!!!
What works for me is a really good blade. If you build all the time it is worth it. I use 2 blades in my table saw. BP is right on with the set up of the saw. You don't want any side pressure on the blade. Be sure the fence is dead on. Also the one item most everyone takes off their saw is the kerf splitter mostly because it can be a pain to set up. This helps keep the board from closing up when it cuts. I use the scoring method on hard ply. It works every time. Also be sure that the edge you are using against the fence is true; I make a few passes on a jointer to be sure its square. This of course assuming the use of a table saw Here are the links to the 2 blades I use: http://www.rockler.com/findit.cfm?page=2373 http://www.rockler.com/findit.cfm?page=10630

Eyebuildillusions,
I agree with your choice of blades. I've found that Freud and Forrest are the best brands to use. You can't go wrong with either of them and they are worth the extra cost. |
