I practiced a lot the 2 Vernon's assemblies in Chronicles 1, and worked very well, but for laymen I it's too much palming.
Nowadays, for laymen I prefer a gaffed one, the only I like it's Hofzinser's,it's perfect. For impromptu work I like: Biollogical shuffle by Paul Harris, atipical, and fast paced The aces & the shadows by Carlos Vaquera. Diamond bar by Daryl, with Bill Malone presentation. Hope it being of interest |

I used to ignore Ace assemblies as being boring, however having spoken to a couple of people at the MAGIC Live convention I found out a few. One of my favourites now is 1002nd aces by Elmsley...Allan Ackerman said that he performs this all the time...!
I have a feeling that JC Wagner did an ace assembly when he came to lecture for International Magic...if I remember correctly it was pretty good, and should be on his lecure DVD available from http://www.internationalmagic.com Owen |

My favourite four ace asseembly is Brother John Hamman's Finale Aces.
Gaffed, sure. But so beautifully constructed. No wonder he fooled Paul Le Paul with this version.

You can also do the Braue add-on to assemble four aces. Just a tip.

I saw Matt Sedlack to a progressive assembly and liked that idea. Also his premise/approach to the method. When I get around to developing a handling and method that works for me, I will have the trick I want. I don't look to other performers for my answers, BUT when I see something I like, I let them know, and ask them about it.

Malone mentions that there are other variations of his invisible palm routine. I was wondering what the history of the effect is, and which version is the best.
Michael: the penguin ultimate ace assembly looks very very clean. Obviously it requires some duplicate cards, and though I almost know how its done its still quite baffling. I was wondering how clean you end up? |

It's hard to beat a gaffed assembly e.g. McDonald's or Gary Kurtz' fantastic progressive Assembly. An unmentioned but excellent version of McD's is Racherbaumer's Olram Aces.
For non-gaffed assemblies, Marlo's Solmar Reverse Acembly (sic) from Marlo Magazine 4 (1980) is excellent. Daryl has a very nice assembly using jokers. I can't remember it's name or where it is.. anybody know this one?? Mike

I recall the trick from Alton Sharpe's Expert Card Mysteries. As to the 'best' version, that is a matter of personal taste. Wesley James recently published his version of the trick, which is very good.

Hello Werner, hopefully you can really help me! Any idea about Joe Dudek's lecture notes? I'm looking for this notes since years, after David Williamson told me about this. By the way David has an Four Ace Assembly too.

I really like some of Bannon's work with Assemblies. His Boogie Woogie Aces is a great Assembly. It focuses on a transposition, rather than a vanish, which is more logical in my mind. It is nice and simple for a spectator to follow and is done with a regular deck. The kicker ending is an added bonus, but this seems to be par for Bannon's course.
I understand that his new book will have another Assembly that is fantastic. Does anyone have other information on this now past due book. Trevor |
