I like to bring:

A TT
D'Lites
Deck of Cards
Dime and Penney
Quarter Bite

All of these are very easy to setup and do and get great reactions.

I'm always carrying a TT loaded with a twenty for doing a bill switch, and a deck of cards. That's more than enough.

Super Sharpie
Rubberbands
Breakthrough Card System Deck
Loops (never leave home without 'em)

The Super Sharpie is nice because it's so practical.

Rubberbands are great for some good close up routines.

Breakthrough Card System deck is the perfect way to quickly blow their minds.

Loops are awesome for seemingly impromptu PK, animation and levitation effects.

I always have a deck of cards . that's the most important. my invisible deck is always welcome to a party. d'lites of course. coin bite is great too(only if I plan to do some coin magic) . the Svengali deck sometimes too.
with me , it all depends on the mood I'm in.

If I think I will definatley be doing some tricks:
-Deck of cards
-Loops
-Perfect pen
-Couple of elastic bands for Crazy Mans Handcuffs.
-TT
All of those don't take up much room and are easy to carry, if I can manage it, I will also take Jay Sankeys 'in a flash'

-A pad. I prefer small post-it note pads (2inx3in). Fits on Biz cards, decks of cards, etc. Great billet size. Also sticks to your hand for some ridiculously deceptive palming.
- A pencil. Pencils are underrated.
-One bent coin.
-One penny with an X on it. (my most favorite non-effect).
-A key (for bending).
-A pocket writer and desk.

The above combined with linguistic deception gives me countless hours of mind blowing stuff.....
Obviously if I have nothing, I borrow a pad and pen and blow minds even more!!

With Wonder Always,
Jason

Just inventoried myself. Mind you, I'm at my computer day job, so this is pretty much standard "walking around" fare:

Inside Breast pockets:
- Invisible Deck (right side) and...
- ...Blue Bikes w/1 extra red (bottom card) and 4 aces and 8 of hearts stacked on top (left side)

Wallet:
- Double Back Bike
- $2 Bill Gaff

Coat Pocket (Right):
- 20 Centavo + 2 20 Peso coins
- 30 inch velvet cord
- 2 beads on yarn (in separate coin purse)
- One Morgan

Coat Pocket (Left):
- Okito w/4 Silver "Clad" '67 Kennedy halves, kept in a...
- ...small velvet pouch w/Ball thru Tube & Nuts n' Bolts
- Coin purse with extra "giveaway" halves for kids, also holding a...
- ...torn Kennedy half and a...
- ...Karate Coin (Kennedy)

Pants (Utility Pocket):
- Cellphone w/8 of Hearts Picture ready in flip-up display

Misc:
- Rubber Bands (right wrist)
- Sharpie ("Pen Pocket" built into coat)
- and a head fulla mischief.

Regards,

Hmm, just checking pockets...

D'Lites - Great to get things going, one effect you can do when drunk at end of party
TT - Lit Cigarette Vanish always knocks 'em bandy
Slam - So easy to carry around cant spend it by mistake like others
Steath Pen - My normal pen, nice easy opener..
Super Sharpie - Predict change in pocket, My normal Marker for Sinful etc
Time Machine Watch - my normal watch, ready if audience is right.
Subterfuge - my normal ring, when it arrives!!
FISM Flash - take it out occasionally, goes great with SLAM if I'm in the mood to 'rig-up'

Got a full show there with nothing more than a few bits that most people carry, so looks very impromptu...

Granted, I'm a card guy, but, if I'm to show up at a party, for a party, I wouldn't tend to bring anything at all. If some one asked to see 'something' I'd probably put something together, like match tricks, cigarette magic, paper balls, change in your pocket...cup and paper ball...I mean the impromptu magic is just as strong as you can get. I feel like if you show up with props...Hrm, I just don't know. I just don't think it would be as strong.

I agree, but look thru these guys lists, you'll not see many 'props'

I feel you, Will, however, I would think there was a trick to something if someone brought out an oddity to me, i.e. hot rod, sun and moon coin, d-lites, etc. Heck, a deck of cards could be considered an oddity, as no one, but, magicians, walk around with them.

And as a to layman a coin is a coin, but, not really. I know you are in the UK, so this might not make sense to you, but, if I pull out a half dollar or silver dollar...that is an oddity, even though it's currency just as anything else.

Strong, to me of course, is using the person who's party it is, using their cards for example...or a borrowed coin/object. I think there is a ton of easy to do impromptu magic that if people studied it better they would seem more magical. Does that make any sense?
