I have finished watching both DVDs. Finished disc #2 thursday nite at 2:30 am.
By far the best DVD of the year and it could very well be the best and most magical DVD set I've ever seen. The silks The coins The pins The knots The napkin interlude Paper balls over the head Paper balls to box/hat The stores, the history, theory, wow.

For a very good read about Scotland and Scotch whisky, I highly recommend Iain Banks' book _Raw Spirit: In Search of the Perfect Dram_. In the book, Banks describes his search for the perfect dram in a series of vintage cars.
Banks is a great writer, but I should warn you that there are some sections where he rails against the most recent US invasion of Iraq. Those sections are clearly marked and Banks encourages you to skip them if you're so inclined. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0099460270 Curt |

Oh, yes...there's a pronunciation guide at the back of Raw Spirit. Very handy for Americans.

I guess I'm going to have to spring for those DVD's. I only got to see Slydini a couple of times, but it was like watching the real thing. One time was at a Desert Magic Seminar a couple of decades ago. He offered a lesson in how to do the Han Ping Chien move. I jumped at the chance to take it. It was worth far more than I paid for it.
He was very special in so many ways. I got to chat with him a bit at the seminar and at a convention in Houston when we booked him here as well.

I cannot say enough good things about the Slydini DVD's. This has my vote for the best DVD set of the year.

I don't usually jump on the I'm-gonna-have-to-buy-these bandwagon but in this case, I'm gonna have to buy these.
I saw Slydini at a small convention in New Jersey years ago when I was twelve. I approached him after the show for an autograph. He was smoking a cigarette and said "You like-a magic, boy?" Of course I nodded my head like a puppy dog. Slydini took his lit cigarette and with a deft twist made it disappear. It was real magic. Years later I purchased all the Slydini books, so I learned the sleight of hand techniques for vanishing a lit cigarette. But I still remember that day as a twelve year old who witnessed real magic. The way he did it could not be described with mere pictures and words. Some of the students on this video are worth checking out. Bill Brunelle is a great performer and somewhat of an undiscovered gem, in my opinion. An 18 year old Macallan, aged in Sherry casks, would be nice for sipping to these DVD's. |

Cellini looked a little extra "happy" when he was interviewing the guy that now owns Slydini's table.

I second everything that has been said about these DVD's. I received them yesterday and watched both disks through twice!!!
To say that this has been my best purchase of 2005 does not do them justice. This brings Slydini's books to life and I predict a boom in those books as a direct result of these DVD's. I have probably learnt more useful MAGIC in these DVD's than from the sum of my other purchases this year. In conclusion, they are what a teaching DVD should be, in my opinion, a balance of instructional material with the history and background of the effects, taught by someone who knew and cared about the material and their mentor. I hope Bill Malone's "Revolutionary Card Technique" DVD's of Marlo's material will be of the same standard. |

Wow!!…..Without doubt the best magic DVD production I have had the pleasure and privilege to watch.
Congratulations to everyone involved in this touching tribute to Slydini, a master magician and human being from whom all of us can be inspired after watching this DVD set. This precious gem really has everything including rare film footage of the master in action, interviews with his old students, performance and demonstrations of his classic magic, insights into magic subtleties that will truly transform your magic, and a journey that left me awe-inspired, emotionally charged and privileged beyond words. We need more DVD productions like this, which not only include the tricks but also provide us with a documentary insight into the master magicians and the lessons learnt by their students. |

Sorry if I missed it, but what is the title for the DVD? I've been wanting to learn the coin routine I saw on the Cavett show for some time now.
