Speaking of interesting gimmicks to vanish a coin, that "Necktie Coin" thing is a real winner when used well. I saw a guy once in Tannens using it (didn't know it then) and it was miraculous. He did all sorts of effects with this thing and no one could figure out what he was doing...In those moments, it was real magic to me, to all of us. Might get that thing one day, it was really clever.

I suppose a beginner of coins really would have no knowledge of how to do this? All I need is a gaff coin that can compensate my small hands and bad palming

Evolve, just keep practicing, it'll get better. What sort of coins do you use?

I received the NUSINUD. I didn't watch the video but just looking at the gimmick, it's very clever! However, I see what >Mediocre the Great> mean by "a lot of practice." Practice and practice a lot. It will lessen the chance of fl******.
>rutabaga, the difficulty level is 3 on a scale of 5, IMO.
>larrylegal, I was indeed disappointed. However, I see the beauty of this gimmick. Jeff Stewart has come up with a very clever little ordiniary looking gimmick that can work beautifully and magically if it's given a lot of practice. Nothing is perfect. Whether I'll use it or not, I'm not sure as angle is an issue.
Thanks everyone! Coin magic still rocks and I still want to learn more. The quest continues

How about did someone saw in the Jaime 3CM demo in his web site?
I think his last vanish the coin is the best, no move and show the hand empty(both side), did you guy agree?
But I still don't know what kind the vanish he use, did someone know the name of his vanihs.

Tommy, I think that was used with the Trabucco Holdout. At least he mentions that the gimmick can be used with the hold out on the website. It only made sense to me that this is what made it possible. It was startling to me when I watched it myself. Very cool combination of gimmicks.

I like your Burn Vanish. It's very similar to Gone Again, which I use all the time.

Magix, yknow what, it is sorta like "Gone Again" (if I'm thinking of the right vanish). At least it seems to mechanically work the same way. Still, Joe's Burn Vanish is really sweet.

I like to do a fr**ch d**p, and then ditch the coin in the left hand before I show that it's vanished.
For those who believe, no explanation is necessary. For those who do not, none will suffice.

Yeah, they're basically the same, just a different "get ready". But they're both pretty nice. Very visual.

Ok, I'm new, but even though I like NUSINUD a lot, and Bobo is the king, I use the Raven and Raven X2 a lot as I know I can do it flawlessly, even when drinking. I also use Subterfuge to mess with the minds of those that think I have something up my sleeve. My favorite unassisted vanish is Revolution though. To those that have criticized the set-up move, I agree, but I work around it by saying the old "heads or tails?" before I set up. Makes it look completely natural. Revolution can also be done while sitting at a table if the angles are right. Although I don't have one, the Trabucco Holdout also sounds really interesting for the serious pro.

Also suggest everyone to check Eivind Lowig's book: Coin Power, where there is a coin vanish/change explained called The Pentium vanish. Smooth, super clean and everything goes in slow motion.

Greg: Is that Ryan Lowe's "Gone" you're performing? Your moves are awesome. If I'm correct in how it works, it reminds me a little of Revolution, but looks more flexible.

Hey Greg, I like your "Gone" vanish too...Really slick! Hey, that "Cosmos" card trick is a killer, man. Very well done and presented. Amazing! So, are you about to come out with a dvd with all this stuff?
-MB
PS - is the Houdini Coin in your "Houdini" trick dollar size? Nice trick.

Hi Mb217,
The new Cosmos DVD should be coming out in the next few months.
The Houdini trick is done simply by using:
1 Scotch & Soda coin
1 regular half dollar
1 metal bang ring
1 okito box
that's IT

I like to use the Butter Coin to vanish multiple coins, one at a time into thin air, and then make them all reappear using the Rainbow Coins gimmick. This routine gets me huge reactions.

Joshua Jay's multiple coin vanish is great. He vanishes 3 coins one at a time, each by a different method but ends very clean. I saw him demonstrate it at a convention lecture (haven't seen his DVDs yet but I assume it's on them). I felt it was one of the best things I took away from the entire convention.

Just took a look at Greg Rostami's site with videos of coin vanishes...very impressive! Greg, are you planning to develop an instructional DVD for your coin work?

I don't have Ryan Lowe's "Gone", but I think it looks amazing. My understanding though is that it's an assisted vanish similar to NUSINUD. If I'm wrong about this, somebody please correct me. I like Revolution as it's a very clean unassisted vanish.

Shoot Ogawa's 1 hand coin vanish is incredible. Incredibly hard too, but it might be what the OP's looking for.
The Revolution coin vanish is great if you add some naturalness to it-- do it with the palm up and on the off-beat with some time-misdirection (not as a challenge vanish).

I do like the effect of the Raven, but not its bulkiness and "other" requirements. Having said that, I'm more inclined to the many sweeter retention vanishes and Jay Sankey's in/out handling of the Messiah Vanish. Speaking of rentention vanishes, Joe Rindfleisch's Burn vanish floors me every time I see it. Its my current favorite and one that I need to learn. -Dan

Hey image, the best to me is as per your initial question here is via sleeving or pocketing. With sleeving, you can do some vanishes that are quite remarkable and show your hands completely empty. You can also use some regular vanishes and then use the technique to "complete" them. A person skilled in using this often neglected-now technique can seem as close to real magic as is humanly possible. There are many that do this well, but Justin Miller uses it as brilliantly as anyone that I've seen in recent memory. Do yourself a favor and learn it...learn it well, and the better you get at it you'll see that it's most of the magic that you'll ever need.
