Hi there,
I purchased Richard Sanders Show Vol. 3. On it there is this really nice packet routine with 4 little stickmen that appears on cards. There is this move that must be used though the routine (let's call it E.C. to avoid exposure). Richard mentions it, but goes over really quickly. So my problem is that I have no idea which card goes where by watching the DVD alone. I have tried to find it by myself, but it doesn't look too convincing later in the routine where some cards have stickmen, other doesn't... My cards don't end up in the same order than his. So,if someone knows the order of the E.C. in this routine, I'd be really grateful. -Louis-p |

The E.C. is a real workhorse of a utility move. There are several sources where you can learn it. Practice it a lot to get it down smoothly.

I perform Richard Sanders's Mr Stickman ALL THE TIME. I don't think it's the same one you're referring to. This version a card is signed and lost in the deck. An indifferent card is show and a stick figure is drawn on the back. The stickman actually jumps from card to card to card (all wrong cards) until it jumps onto the signed card! No gimmicks and the stickman card can be given away as a souvenier. My alltime favorite trick!

I assume by now someone has PMed him to help with the EC so I can only comment much the same as others have and that is that the EC is one of the best and most versatile moves in card magic. A good source for learning it is the Michael Ammar ETMCM series, though off hand I cannot think of which volume would have it on there. I myself do not actually perform this routine, but the only reason is that a good buddy of mine that works in the same area as I do always performs it, and thus I don't like to step on his toes. Likewise there are certain routines that I perform that he doesn't. It's a killer routine though - actually I think that the Richard Sanders Show is due for another watch sometime soon.

I perform this effect regularly. I have to agree with Infantino, I think you are speaking of the other Stickman effect Sanders does, Mr. Stickman. Anyway if you have any questions feel free to PM me for some help.

This is a marvellous routine; so magical! The ending as mentioned above is amazing, and the trick is cute and to-the-point. A real commercial, practical winner!

Stickman 4 and Mr. Stickman are two different effects. Stickman 4 uses the EC; as I recall Mr. Stickman does not. The original post correctly referes to stickman 4.

I stand corrected. I was think an EC was another move. Yes stickman 4 uses the other EC. There are many sources for the move do a search and I'm sure you will find what you are looking for.

I've been doing some traveling recently and it got me thinking about Mr. Stickman. (Please don't ask me why, I don't really understand it myself) After having my passport stamped and stamped and stamped some more, I thought that doing Mr. Stickman with stamps on the cards instead of Mr Stickman himself might be a fun way to change up the routine. The handling would pretty much stay the same, but the motivation for the appearing/jumping stamps would follow my patter where I explain that with each new country I visited I would recieve another stamp on my "passport", the passport being the packet of cards and that when I returned home, all the stamps came with me. (cue visual jump) Also, since it's not exactly likely that I'll be able to get my hands on official immigration stamps from various countries, I was thinking that postage stamps from the various countries would be a nice replacement.
I was hoping you could give me your opinions on using the stamps instead of the permanent marker. I'm concerned that people will think I'm somehow simply sticking them on when they aren't looking and then later simply taking them off really fast and then getting them on the chosen card. (Though, I suppose that could be quite the trick in and of itself) Another thought I had on the matter would be to get some rubber stamps with the names of countries on them and using those instead. What do you all think? |

I guess it might work if you develop a presentation, but I'm not sure how it would work under the premise of the original effect. As you know, the original only has two marks - the stickman(1) which locates the spectator signed card(2). Sounds like you are on your way to develop a new effect.

Polaroid Money Outdone is my favorite...a barehanded , no wallets routine in which bills multiply in your bare hands, using ONLY the above mentioned sleight. Mr Elmsley was a genius, and this sleight proves it.

I bought Volume 2 for Mr Stickman and never looked back, ive been in tears of laughter with the spectators, poor Mr Stickman hitting the floor.. Awww
I hope Stickman 4 uses totally different methods as well as the cxxxt, I am one who rarely executes the same moves more than once in each session, even if they are different methods would they fit together in the same routine? Jason. |

Both are awesome routines and well worth the consideration of working magi.

To OP: If you want to practice the EC, try "Twisted Flush" by Bill Malone. Practicing that effect made a regular EC much easier to perform.

In my earlier post, I mitakenly mentioned Mr. Stickman, but was in fact referring to Stickman 4. That being said, what do you all think of using the stamps instead of the men? Any thoughts?
