My latest comedy story has to do with Squirrels eating a hole in the back of my house. No it was not funny the day I discovered it, but has grown so over the last couple of weeks.
Does anyone know if there is a squirrel version of "Rocky"(spring puppet) out there in puppet land? So far we have trapped and released a few...They love peanut butter...hmm perhaps a short P & J routine would go well.. With a real P & J sandwhich....not the cannister FUN version marketed by a few wonderful creators..... Harris

Ever thought of just calling Rocky raccoon a squirrel...who's going to correct you, and if they do, so what! Make it funny.

You could sew a length of wire from a metal hanger to Rocky's tail, and make stand up 'squirrel like'[up and curved back].Maybe a little hair gel to give him a more 'svelte' look.
Attach a small piece of sheetrock to his mouth area...OK,now I am getting carried away... Rich |

Anyone ever try to "dye" a spring puppet...
Love the idea of the bit with the tail and miscalling...Letting the audience correct you such as calling the skunk a "cat", I use that in a lot of routines.... Harris

What about making some type of silly looking "costume" for Rocky and have him impersonate a squirrel?
Then, during the routine, Rocky could get "busted" for not being a squirrel after all and trying to pin the blame on squirrels instead of the raccoons. Just a thought. Mark. |

As we don't have raccoons over here so my Rocky gets mistaken for a lot of different animals. The animal the kids see him as the most is a squirrel. He has also been called a skunk, a badger, a hedgehog, a rat and a wiggly fluffball.

Rocky looks about as much like a raccoon as it does a squirel, a stoat, a pine marten, a weasel, a ferret, a rat or any other invented or real vaguely cylindrical body shaped rodent like animal so I don't see there's a problem.

I think I might get some rabbit ears and put on "Bob" for Egg Hunts.
Squirrel boy has turned more into a bit without props these days. Along with my stories about being mechanically challenged... Harris

If you want people to know its a squirrel, put a big "I'm a squirrel" sticker on him.
