Cannibals is a great routine but the whole mouth eating thing doesn’t lend itself to seriousness. Well I guess it could but I haven’t seen it yet.
Any how, what other things could the cards be in that routine? Perhaps Vampires who swarm their prey killing them (vanish) only to later have the victims become Vampires themselves. How about Spiders that eat their mates? Or contestants on Love Cruise... wait.. how is that different :rotf: Run with it guys, Tom Cutts |

How about making up a story about relationships? We have all been chewed up & spit out by love

Good idea.
Hmmm...There could then be a kicker after the final reveal. The soul mates are found together and have families, each king/queen pair having a jack as well. Interesting.... Tom Cutts |

The Invasion of the Body Snatchers immediately comes to my mind as a potential theme along these lines. Using another storyline would work really well with Bill Goodwin's version of the Cannibal Kings (1988 Lecture Notes), because it doesn't use the chomping mouth gag.

Ammar follows the Cannibal Kings routine (the 'K' on the King stands for Kannibal) by using the chomping motion...and after the mouth has eaten the pygmy card the kings roll onto their backs, rub their bellies (as you square up the deck) and then they 'burp' - by flexing the cards with the thumb and middle fingers.
I think he does a couple of bone crunching sounds by rifling the edges of the cards - but it wouldn't be hard to come up with some others. You're right though...the 'big mouth action doesn't lend itself to seriousness...but thats not a bad thing is it? ham it up some more? Some kind of 'Jaws' storyline could work with this as well...?? Complete with sound effects... |

You could make the 'K' on the Kings stand for 'K-Mart' and tell a sad story of how the big industries are (quite literally) eating up all the small town businesses.
With the final revelation: "Leaving them as nothing more than faint traces of bile in the stomachs of the marketing giants. Sad but true." Gonz :carrot:

Just a quick note,
The "K" for cannibal line I believe was Mike Skinner's. He would then follow it up by saying "old English spelling." Take care guys, Dorian |

The Cannibal Cards plot is a farcical plot by nature. I think it is also interesting to note that in the original Searles routine, they cannibalized other things besides cards. Whatever the presentational theme is, make sure it is fun, because this routine allows itself to be. BTW, I don't think it was Skinner who originated the K for Kannibal line.
