Hi All!

this is something I saw posted at SAMTalk that I thought muight be of interest to those thinking of attending the convention

Michael Douglass is happy to report that we have an arrangement with Yellow Checker Shuttle in Dallas to provide a special $13 one-way rate to and from the Adams Mark Hotel and DFW Airport. Regular taxis are near $50, and the Super Shuttle is about $17.

At the DFW Airport, you'll find Yellow Checker on the upper level just outside the baggage claim area at the orange "Shared Ride Yellow Checker" signs.

Our members who are staying at the Adams Mark Hotel can log into a page at Yellow Checker Shuttle, reserve and pay for their shuttle tickets, and Yellow Checker will be there with a customer service representative at DFW to transport them to the Adams Mark. This special rate ONLY applies to the Adams Mark!

For more convention info, check out http://www.magicsam.com

Hope this helps.

Awww I see my wife has been busy again. hehehe She always is one to find information and then help out wherever she can. I think I will keep her. =)

In all seriousness, this information is great news for anyone wanting to attend the cpnvention or thinking about attending. It can save anyone some mney and I hope that anyone reading this will take action to pass along this information to anyone thay know who is also planning on attending.

Snidini and David: I look forward to seeing you both there and meeting you guys in person. I will be bring again this year my "member of the Café" stickers. These will be at the registration desk and wasa big hit last year. They can be placed on your name badge so it identifies that you are a Café member. this way people can meet other Café members more easily.

If you have not done so already, make sure you register early. This will get you the best seats at the shows and such and you do not want to wait to the last minute to do it. Registration I think goes up march 1st so get registering today if you plan on attending.

Hi David,

You can find some of the performers at http://www.magicsam.com under the convention area. I will also list them here.

Below is the performers for the Latin Show

David Sousa of Portugal placed 2nd in Manipulation at FISM. His astounding act touches the hearts by pleasing magic appetite of all manipulators.

Juan Ordeix of Argentina tied for 2nd place in the category of Mentalism, After watching this act the audiences had a great new opinion on mentalism. Juan will also lecture at the convention.

Hugo Valenzuela was the winner of two awards. Not only did he win 1st place For Originality: but his unusual UFO illusion took 2nd place in the "Stage Illusions" category. Hugo is from Argentina.

Gustavo Raley also comes to us from Argentina. Not only was a great hit in the South American FLOSOMA convention but he competed and won great response at FISM. Gustova will do two spots on the show and will be a dealer in the Dealer's room.

Brandon & Silvana split their time between appearance in South America and in Europe. The team won award around the world. We won't take awe some of the surprises they have in store, but their Busker and Florist combine illusions, classic magic and quick changes. The team hails from Argentina, Spain and Italy.

Senko is from Argentina whose classic dove act is simple and features a number of new equipment involving canes candles and light bulbs. He will also be seen in our Deserter room.

Also: The Gleasons, Chip Romero, John Shyrock,Chris Mitchell and Fred Becker for the Cruise Ship themed show.

Enjoy!

Here is another alternative that will cost you the princely sum of $2.50 from airport to downtown, if you are traveling on any day except Sunday.

On arrival, go to the ground transportation level of the airport and take the shuttle to Remote parking south. There pick up the TRE (Trinity Rail Express) shuttle to the CentrePoint Station. The Trinity Rail Express takes about 30 minutes (which is less time than the drive on all but the best of days) to get to Dallas' historic Union Station. from there, you can take the DART rail to the Pearl Street Station, right next to the Adams Mark. The DART rail also goes to a lot of great entertainment and dining places (notably now Mockingbird station, and to what is left of the West End) and is convenient, clean, and quick.

Total trip into town this way is about 60 -90 minutes at worst, 45 minutes if you hit the schedule at the right time. It's a good way to travel if you want to save a bit on the transportation costs.

FWIW,

Pix

As an aside, and since I don't have the stuff in front of me or even where I can find it at the moment, could someone PM me contact info for the person coordinating the spouses' events? I have some connections that can hook them up for some unique events.
