Steve,

You are a big fan of Si Stebbins, as are virtually all card men. I have seen you work miracles with it and often praise it.

But my question is, why is the Steve Stebbins setup from Volume 2 of SACT better than the original?

In an earlier post I mentioned that magicians buy my books for different reasons. One of those reasons I omitted from the list is to see what blunders I'll make in the final paste-up.

Brian is referring to a minor little chart I added on page 47 of Volume 2. It seems that when I was finishing the paste-up, I had too much space left on a page at the end of a trick that used the Si Stebbins setup. I don't like white space, so I thought a nice chart showing the Si Stebbins setup would be helpful to those who weren't familiar with the stack. Only the setup I described in the chart took two decks to set because some cards were repeated. This was unfortunate for everyone except for those who purchase the books for the humor where my mistakes are frequently a topic for amusement.

From Volume VII (5 volumes after the fact!) comes this limerick from my friend Marty Kane who is currently in silent mode.

There was a book writer named Steve
Whose card tricks would always deceive.
But typos in the first SACT
So messed up the Stebbins stack -
It caused all his readers to heave.

(In the book I refrained from mentioning the error in his limerick - that it was the second SACT)

Thanks Steve. I haven't seen you in a while so I have had to post a few sarcastic and really uncalled for posts.

But honestly, the humor sections and Beam's Laws in the SACT books are top notch and entertaining as the effects themselves.
