Does anyone know where I can buy one of those boxes used in a sponge ball routine as demonstrated in the World's Greatest Sponge Ball Magic DVD? It is a small plastic box that opens to reveal a second box. Upon removing the second box, the first box can then be placed in the second box. In other words - each box can be enclosed within the other.

It was originally released as the Gozinta Box (or from Tenyo as the Parabox). I'm not certain if you can find the original any longer but others will correct me if I'm in error on this point. If you look at Google under "gozinta box", you'll find all sorts of information on this--including a link here to a Magic Café thread at: http://themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtopic......;forum=8
Hope this helps. Mike

The smaller ones were also called "In and Out Boxes" or "In and Outer Boxes."
Gozinta boxes were actually the cardboard ones made by Supreme. The larger ones were called the Lubor Die.

WRONG...??????? you are always correct but it was the Driebeek Die (still sold by Ken Brooke). Or am I wrong? The Driebeek was a 3 way, maybe Lubor did start with the first one.
Am I confusing y'all?

I think the difference between the two was the thin shell Driebeek introduced. Howard Hale made one of these in exotic hardwood veneer. I purchased it from him at the TAOM in Houston in 1996. It was in my van in the parking lot across the street from the Hyatt. A wino broke into my van and stole the bag of magical apparatus I had purchased at the convention. I guess he had no idea what that was.

Can I get a few opinions on this effect. Is it worth looking into? I've seen the super el-cheapo version produced by Empire and I was not impressed in the least! Is there some patter or a certain handling that makes this worth performing?
I'm very interested in finding new presentations of old tricks that breathe new life into the old dusty things. Thanks guys!

Wow! That's a tough one. The Driebeek die, which was much larger, was a way of having an ending to a routine that could be dragged out ad nauseam.
When the small ones came out a few years ago, I got a couple of sets and tried decorating them with various things, but I never found a routine that was as effective as simply bringing out a sponge ball, splitting it into two, and doing a few moves in the spectator's hand. I ended up with a giant sponge ball. The routine was faster than getting the sponges out of the boxes.

In UK Daveports has a cheap set of Gozinta's.
Cute Patter for just boxes: "I have a blue box, but what I keep inside it's very precious. What's inside is a white box, but what I keep inside the white box is even more precious. You see what I keep inside the white box is the blue box." Emphasises the paradox. Love Parabox (clever name too ), I used it a lot when I was doing bar magic. I'd perform it "for the kids" so the parents would watch, be amazed by the magic, and grateful I amused the kids for them. I got a few good tips that way! Paul |

They have them at the Mingus Magic Shop in Reading, PA. However, the boxes I saw on that DVD are both solid colors, while the ones at Mingus (sold as part of a trick, I think it's called "Inside/Outside," and comes with three balls, one two-colored), have a star pattern on one box.
If anyone is interested, let me know. The item is not on their site (the site is very incomplete) and they're only open three days per week. But I live close by and go there fairly often. |

I saw this video and it's what got me thinking of the gozinta boxes. I have a couple of different boxes that I am playing around with. Here's the video.
