I have heard that his magic is unbelievable. If I was to start with just one video, which one would you recommend. I would like the effects that are the most impromptu. I was thinking of the second video because I here is cups and balls is just killer.
That being said, would you recommend his videos or his books.... Are some of the tricks the same.... And whatever other questions you want to answer. |

I don't have the books, but I have the videos. I know that there is some overlap between the two. If you are looking for impromptu magic, then you would want to pick up video #3, because it is just card magic that can be done with a regular deck.
There are some pretty good tricks on video #3, but the other videos have stronger effects, but most have some kind of set-upgimmickgaff. Some of the set-up is minimal, while some can take awhile. And his Cups & Balls routine is killer. I don't do a cups & balls routine, but if I did, I would definitely do his version. |

Yup, video #3 is impromptu. If that is your need, I would start there. The C&B routine is solid magic and solid entertainment!! In the end all the tapes are going to end up in your library...it is just a matter of time.

I love the impromptu aspect of tape 3 - "Leap of Faith" & "Commercial Travel" are both effects that I like a lot. I'm not crazy about his presentation, it's just a bit hyper for my taste, but Mr. Regal has talent galore.

I have all of these on DVD and I have to say they are my favorite. David Regal is creative and good performer. The most impromptu stuff you can find is on Volume 3, which is devoted to impromptu magic.
????.....Yeah

Work toward collecting all the tapes and books over time. Regal is an excellent teacher and is able to clearly communicate the essence of handling an effect.
Actually I find the 'Explanation' areas of the DVDs better than the actual performances which seem a bit stilted and contrived. I suppose that is only to be expected in a studio setting. Overall, these are an excellent investment and you will not regret the decision.
