Does anyone know the level of skill necessary. I practiced Draun on Dice for a while but it took a lot of time(for me.)

I agree that the audience has to be able to see inside that palm-out grip but I think you can adjust to show the die to a wider audience. There are several different grips and moves out in the market for this Sachs-type routine but Mr. Stone's move surely looks invisible to me. Impressive!

I've had the pleasure of watching Sol do this routine for a number of people (both magicians and laymen) over the past several years, and I can assure you that the routine is fantastic.
Sol's style is very casual and low-key, and this routine reflects that. Nevertheless, there are some really great moments in it, and I think this is something that should be studied for anyone interested in this type of dice trick. Sol's been performing dice tricks along these lines for more than 70 years, and has been using this particular routine for about 50. He brings a lot of experience to the table. I was not particularly impressed with the camera work and the quality of the video. There were certain camera angles during the performance section that revealed a bit too much information. These are things that would not have been noticed if you saw Sol perform it live. Still, the routine is great, and you can hear the reactions of the people Sol was performing for (some were laymen, some were magicians), and it's obvious that they all enjoyed it. I really think that this is a routine that would serve any close-up performer well. If you think you might be interested in this type of trick, I highly recommend you check it out. -Jim

If you're going to spend the time learning a dice routine, I strongly recommend Bob Sheets' "It the Rules!" over any other routine that I've seen. His routine requires no gimmicked dice and can be performed with 2 standard dice anywhere anytime. Also, it actually has a strong finish unlike most other routines.

Actually, The Ivory Connection was released several years ago on VHS tape. However, The Magic Bakery has purchased the rights from Reed McClintock and Steve Dobson. That said, we've re-shot the video from the ground up - which now includes both Reed and Steve performing and teaching their own ideas and handlings. As a bonus, the DVD also includes the original Ivory Connection footage for historical purposes. The new DVD will be released in May 2008. Fyi.

Just got this. Are you all performing this casually while showing you have two dice or switching one for other? He talks about just showing casually and not making a big deal of it. I figured if I opened with some patter or playing craps then I have a justification for introducing two otherwise it would seem to bring unwanted attention. Am I right?
