I am rarely without a BCS deck somewhere within my reach.
I find it very diffucult to leave a restaurant without having left behind a mysteriously twisted up piece of cutlery. ...and strangely, I sometimes find myself watching tv or reading while blindfolded. I have Richard to thank for all of these quirks I have developed. -Brian |

The thing I am using the most lately has been ODDS. Although I really enjoy doing magazine test, Watch Routine, BCS and I am doing one of his bends lately as well.

Is Miracle Thought Projection only available to learn from Dynamic Mysteries and is finding a reasonably priced copy of Dynamic Mysteries a miracle as well?
My favorites of what can easily become a very long list are PCT, Amazing Memory Demo, Test Condition Card Trick, Signed Torn and Restored Post-It Note and Magazine Test. |

Isn't there an effect similar (marketed) to pegasus page where it ends up in an envelope or something?

Hey CSMTREE
Yes, there is a similar effect by Ted Lesley, using his "Teleport Envelope". It's in his book, "Paramiracles" and on his DVD "Cabaret Mindreading. G |

What I admire most is the VOLUME of mentalism Richard has produced/published.
Being only mildly inventive myself, I admire the variety of high quality material he has shared with people interested in mentalism. Chuck Hickok |

It really is amazing how much top-notch material Richard Osterlind has created and shared with the magic/mentalism community... The man is simply remarkable.
One of the main reasons why his material is probably so appealing is that it has been so well developed. The explanations on his DVD's, purchased effects, and books are so thorough that it drastically reduces the learning curve. Every last detail is available right at our fingertips! To answer the question... I really enjoy 'ODDS', 'Thought Scan', 'Watch Routine', 'BCS', 'Bank Night' and 'Final Answer'. Lately, I'm really taking to his approach with the Dracula book test coupled with Erratum. -Jared |

All of Richard's stuff is top knotch, but I'd have to say the ones that most influenced me were "Making Magic Real" and "Making Real Magic" must read for all magicians and mentalist.

This forum never ceases to ammaze me...here is yet another impossible challenge!
Here are mine from memory..with no DVD covers in front of me... MIRACLE THOUGHT PROJECTION!...of effects I can reasonably say I have performed MANY times in front of a real audience....(the rest are those I have only performed a few hundred times so I'm not yet really ready to comment...I'm not kidding...) The PENNY BEND...(I'm kidding...I SO don't do this..) For real though....lol....here are the three out of many: The Watch Routine (I SO love this effect) and my add-on take on it from his his Invisible Book Test routine...married in an only-as-cousins-can sorta- way... Anything BCS related, although I use a different stack but the same effects.. PCT....none better for real-time....I have gotten confessions with this.... There is a million hours of work to be rehearsed just in those...a lifetime Well-performed versions of the three I mentioned above can...AND WILL ...get you around the world...many times over...It is a large investment, though.....on a lot of levels... I have left out the other 154 effects that one could work on from these DVDs ...and make a very decent living upon them (don't....create your own effects, though) You have a LIFETIME of stuff here to work on....and we haven't even mentioned his early works...ooops...someone did...his printed stuff...all vey Dynamic... ...any my comments above only reflected what he released in his earlier releases on the screen...not anything recent...which I could be accused as being biased about..which I will be soon.. ....and again the chalange of comparing DYNAMIC MYSTERIES to anything on DVD...what can I say? As many, with bigger mentalism shoulders, above me have posted above.... treasure GREATLY that he has decided to release ANY of it.... Bryn

The BTCS was what grabbed me the most; I just love everything about it! Ultra Board is another favorite and so fair looking, such a beautiful piece of mentalism! But, then I really do love almost all of his work!

After watching the new series, I have to say the bonus Hypnosis show is hysterical! So we can add to the long list of Richard's skills 'A' class hypnotist! Wonderful entertainment, not to mention all the other fantastic and numerous mentalism items.
Thank you Richard for all the gems you have released so generously, obviously we all thoroughly enjoy watching, performing and discussing your material! Your contribution to our art will no doubt be enjoyed for generations to come. Cheers, Al Straker

As with all things of this nature, it is a matter of personal opinion. Everything that Richard does will appeal to someone. Of what value is it to know which effect appeals to which performer? Let's just say that Richard's effects appeal to everyone and we would be correct. I enjoy watching all effects by various performers but would never perform all of them because it would be out of character for me. I want my effects to be unique. I don't want to do anything the same way as done by someone else. What is most important to me is to be aware of the tools and principles available, and then to apply them to an effect.
