Need reviews... need reviews!

They look like the same device concept... old threads on PF talked about breakable tip...

Gotta buy one or the other - any help here or PM would be greatly appreciated...

Mats,

It does look like a clone from watching the videos... but I wish some owners would come forward and say "YAY- this is good!"... my hand has been hovering over the PAYPAL buy for PF2.0 for a while... but then I noticed someone here brought our attention to the Fire Starter... which appears as per the video similar as the PF method... but effects does not always = method... also, FS may be a knockock of version 1.0 of PF ....

Sigh... I am sad... as without info... I'll likely end up buying both in the long run as I am a magic addict...

So, either these items are so great no one wants to spill the beans or they suck so bad no one wants to get in trouble or nobody owns them????

I am amazed.

I don't have them but Rick Haslett does great stuff.
Pyrofreak1.0 was not the first device like this. Before PF there were others.

Surely someone has bought one of these for a review by now! I'm not sure but I get the feeling that Rick's is a TT and Pyro is on a type of pull, any comments?

I hope so - I find it bizarre that there is no comments either...

the PF video when I play it in slow motion... looks like a TT as well and I saw a small metal bit uncovered at times... which is OK by me... just want someone to say the thing works well in the real world....

Hi Magic51

What similiar devices were before PF?
Of course there are other devices with the same principle to ignite flash products. But I don't know any product with the same functionality like our product.

Hey Stefan! I have one question if you could PM me - is the item for STAGE or close-up?... i.e. how much distance do you need to be invisible gimmick? I was going to get PF until suddenly FS appeared - any way you could PM me some details? (Why do I got the feeling I'll end up buying both )

Not knowing anything about either product, if I were to get one, which I probably will, I trust Rick and the products he has sold me in the past. He has been making fire gimmicks for years and they always work.
Dr. Spektor, when you get whichever one you get, or both, let us know.

Anyone know how these compare to Fireball and whether a fireball effect can be performed with them, without much hand motion

We used to sell a device back in 1996 that was the same gimmick from Theater effects. Really nothing new. that said if I had to choose....Ricks is the better as it is rechargable.

Yes,I have the Pyrofreak and here is what I wrote some time ago:

"There is only 1 dealer(the manufacturer)who has it in stock but the price (USD 112) is not
acceptable for the device. Pyrofreak works as advertised but in the real world
it is not really useable because of its design. If you are a handy magician maybe you can rebuild it so it could be used. But if not, save your money!"

I have to admit that I own the older version and do not know if version 2.0 has
been altered in any way.

Hi Wizard

We have many professional magicians in Europe working with Pyrofreak. And they use it in the real world.
And by the way Jim: Pyrofreak is rechargeable hundreds of times.

Well, I ordered Fire Starter from Hank Lee....but when my package arrived (as I ordered some other goodies as well) a note said "Out of Stock wait 5-10 more days"...well, that is another story - love people who say they got it and don't....

And I bought a Pyrofreak 2.0 yesterday from a fellow Café member... so waiting for that too...

Yes, I AM INSANE.

Once I have both, I'll put them through the paces (nod to Jim Pace yuk yuk)....

Hi Graham from the ifamouse Digiquick here

I have received Pyrofreak.

It is well constructed - It is rechargable - It does all it is advertised to do.

I can not comment on reliability as a customer has this item, I will let you know as soon as he has used it for a number of times.

My concers, the fillament is rather exposed leaving it in a position where you need to be carefull - If your a Pro Buy two so that if the element fails you have a back up, its a bit time consuming to change the elemet. This would probably improve if you have done it a few times

The handlings a bit clunky its hard to give more details without exposing the method, but the works take up a lot of space in the TT leaving it rather difficult to fit on the T -b Great instructions - In all a great devise, but in my opinion the asking price is high -- However if you need the effect it does the job

I have pyrofreak 1.0 and it does not work reliably at all, THAT is why its not good for real world applications. There is nothing worse than being in the middle of a performance holding a piece of flash paper and having the device fail, which it does so often I stopped even trying to use it.

AND I have a really big problem with coming out with 2.0 which fixes the problems with 1.0 AFTER you have already taken peoples money for the first one, and made a lot of promises you did not deliver on.

Why would I shell out MORE money to get what I was promised in the first place?

In other words, I PAID for 1.0 then they come out with 2.0 which they say fixes the problems with constant breakage and reliability. That is there answer if you
complain that the device you originally bought dosn't work right, well give me another 100$ and I'll sell you the FIXED version.

If he gave me a free 2.0 because 1.0 didn't work as advertised, that's fine but don't expect me to give them another 100 bucks or so just to get what I was promised in the first place, that's ridiculous.

I have nothing but great things to say about both Rick Haslett's fire devices AND Jim Pace's fire devices, all very reliable and work as described, but this pyrofreak was a big waste of money, I should have bought Ricks.

If something you buy from Rick or Jim Pace does not work as described, they will replace or fix your problem. Rick has fixed a few of my devices since everything he sells comes with a lifetime warranty on the electronics. I'm admittadly tough on stuff but Rick never complained, just fixed them and shipped them back quickly.

I've never had anything from Jim Pace break or not work as described, but I know him well enough and have bought enough stuff from him to trust buying anything from him.

I think Jim should make a similar device if so, I'd buy it right away. I plan on buying firestarter after I recover from christmas...

OUCH!
