I just wrote my first script using David Regal's info at the beginning of the book. I set up styles in MS Word for action, dialog etc. Once this is done you can just click the style and Word automatically uses the proper paragraph form etc. Once you have your word processor set up, you can focus on the content.
This is going to make me a much better performer. Furthermore the tricks are great too. What a great book! Mike

HI Spatlind,
I'm really liking it. I'm reading it (about page 300). The guys here were right. It is one of the best book that I have, beside Ascanio, Strong Magic, Maximum Entertainment, and Tamariz's Books. Regards

Just started this book last week, it is great so far. It has helped me to realize how I should be working out my words as carefully as I am working out my moves. I think it will be easier for me to keep my dialogue focused on message, once I manage to keep the balls, coins and cards from flying all over the place. I am a real believer that this will take years of practice to get to a performance level of any merit...I am kicking myself for not starting when I was 12.

So many goodies here. Theory, great tricks, great scripts, practical advice. What's there not to like? Okay, as others have said, it's true that there really isn't an attempt to describe a "method" of scripting--the field is still wide open for that--but this is the best magic book I've read in a long time. Don't expect Designing Miracles level of theory, but enjoy this book as a big grab bag of fun ways to play with presentation by focusing on one's script.

Really great book. didn't finish it yet but its great. However, not sure if the author really try some of his trick. His take on the Gemini Twins make no sense at all when you really try it. Great script but not logic at all. If you try it, you will understand.

I do.
Just sad about the Gemini scipting. Found the scripting very good but this cannot work. He should have try it before. |

I have this book and am enjoying the read so far. What I was wondering about was the differance between using a script program and Word. I am new to this so please don't tear me appart for my ignorance.

I have gone from mere outlining and scripting important moments to full scripting because of this great book. Until reading _Scripting Magic_, I did not have a clear idea of either the theory or the practice of writing a script.

This really is a great book and its the kind of book that goes on the shelf after you read it only to be constantly referenced. So make sure that it goes into an accessible area of your bookshelf!

I just got this book and think it is great. Up until now I have been writing my scripts based on the method outlined in David Ben's "Tricks". I like this method and I am not sure whether I should stick with this or change over to the method outlined in "Scripting Magic".
There are some aspects of the method in Scripting Magic that appeal to me but it seems strange to have to put my name above everything I say. Why not just put the dialog in Italics??? Has anyone changed their style of scripting to the way outlined in "Scripting Magic"? Thanks
