I know there has been one previous thread on butterflies, but has anyone heard, done, or seen anything new with them since? Rocco has the one routine, but that is all I have been able to find.
Just found out. Rocco no longer does butterflies. |

samthemagical,
How did you find out about Rocco no longer doing butterflies? Regarding the signature, is that Led Zeppelin you quote? If so, congrats...love it! |

I asked Rocco, as I am attempting several butterfly routines. Yes, it is stairway to heaven, right after the guitar solo.

Um, there is the butterfly from the rose trick or you can show your hands empty then a butterfly flys out when you close your hand I came up with that. I'm an insect geek, like, my walls are covered with specimens.

The effect called creation from Paul Harris Art of Astonishment Vol 1 is quite impressive.
A moth is used instead. Also, I have a silk butterfly that I use with IT. Looks nice.

Andrew Goldenhirsch has an absolutely stunning appearance of a butterfly. I spoke with him about the details when I contemplated adding a live ending to a paper butterfly stage routine. Andrew told me it was a rather difficult process to ensure that you have a butterfly to work with on the day you are to perform.
I was talking with Dorian Rhodel just last night about this, too. He expressed that one issue to that is the likelihood that in touching the butterfly's wings you remove the fine powder which enables them to fly. I recall doing this to Jet Moths as a kid but I don't recall if that powder is something which grows back or not. Once it is off their wings they are quite disabled in their flying. This in turn greatly shortens their life span. I'm not sure I would want to have that effect on something I am using to get such a touching reaction. Tom |
