I've got one of the competion vid's (I think it's the 16th).
It's OK but nothing special. Very amaturish quality (audio/visual). There are some great acts and some not so great acts and the running time is about 4hrs!!! Because the visual quality is not very good, it's sometimes difficult to see everything that is happening, although it is interesting to see how people structure their acts. |

I have the competitions from '87, '93, and '99.
'87 has only a few good performances on it but the best by far is Carlos Vaquera with a very entertaining routine. '93 has 21 performers and lasts over 4 hrs. I liked Bob Swadling, Pit Hartling and Simo Aalto's Bell act. It also has the Steve Bedwell Walkman act that he won the IBM comp with. '99 has 24 performers and lasts over 4 hrs again. Heinz is fantastic and so is Gerry's dice stacking routine. Joshua Jay also has a good act. A pesonal favourite from this is Manuel Muerte's FISM act that I just saw in Blackpool. Are they worth the money? Yes for ideas and inspiration, but no if you want to learn some tricks. Note: I am adding this because I posted at the same time as Damien. The '99 is the 16th Comp and although the video quality is not studio quality like a normal teaching video, it is fine for a performance video. If you have ever been to a comp and watched it on the large screen then this is similar to that.
