I'm glad someone mentioned Whit Haydn. He really is a funny performer. I'm not sure if we're including guys who have passed on, but Billy McComb was incredibly funny.
It's interesting how everyone has a different definition of funny. Some think Jay Sankey should be on the top ten list. He is the farthest thing from funny in my opinion. I don't think I've laughed harder in my life than the night I saw David Acer lecture and perform. |

Didn't forget him - didn't know him. Just meet Chris at KIDABRA - what a talented guy! Definitely one of the top 10 - and one of my top 4.

Since I do not know each and every one of the performers mentionned above the following classified list is not to be considered as argumental but as personal experience (there are however magicians in the list above, that I know well and that I would classify as very entertaining but not as "funniest", but easily admitting that this is a matter of personal culture, and also some names that I do not find funny at all -it must be me...)
David Williamson Dana Daniels Tom Mullica Bob Read Johnny Thompson (as Thomsoni company) Whit Haydn Fielding West Charlie Frye John Carney (as Mr. Mysto) Bob Sheet

It's some time since MAGIC's top 10 Funniest Magician list came out; and it's very interesting to see what other magicians have been suggested on here as deserving of a place. Of course we are all influenced by who we have seen and when we have seen them. I'm from the UK and saw Paul Daniels and Wayne Dobson at the top of their game; unsurprisingly they would both be in my top ten.
I think the one unfortunate aspect of the list was that there wasn't one magician outside the US on it. I appreciate that MAGIC is very much a US magazine; but even so you would have thought there was at least one magician from the rest of the planet who deserved a top ten entry! Having said that I wouldn't argue with the top two - David Williamson and Mac King. To my mind David Williamson would probably win because his humour is totally natural and spontaneous: he is someone who has 'funny bones', whereas with most other comedy magicians you can see the 'joins'. The last time we saw David in the UK was at the British Ring of the IBM. He 'lectured' for an hour and a half and was absolutely hilarious. It was genius at work. Why he's not a huge star in the US I've got no idea.

As Ian says the make up of your own individual top ten list is going to be influenced by who you've seen. As I'm from the UK there would quite a few Brits on my top ten list and Ian Keable's name would most definitely be on it.
