The Harry Lorayne DVDS are some of the finest to learn the REAL work! The L&L set has the older footage from his video from the 80's. KILLER material!

Haven't read the whole thread - but in case no one mentioned it - David Regal's Tricks, Tricks, Tricks series.

Ditto.
"Is there any point to which you would wish to draw my attention?"
"To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time."
"The dog did nothing in the night-time."
"That was the curious incident," remarked Sherlock Holmes.

If you like the ambitious card, Daryl's Ambitious card video is great with lots of content. As a matter of fact Daryl puts quite a lot of good content on all of his videos.
I think Ammar's Easy to Master card miracles is a great set for someone at a beginning and intermediate level (and even advanced if there's a trick on one of the videos you don't know already) the selection of tricks is excellent.
Green magic by Lennart Green is excellent.
I loved the Dai Vernon Revelations videos.
The Harry Lorayne videos I own all have excellent real world material, and quite a lot of it at that, most of it easy to learn.
If you want to learn stage card manipulation the Jeff McBride Art of Card Manipulation videos are great.
I could go on and on. There's a lot of great material out there, and there's been a lot of good suggestions made. My advice is to get a set of videos and work hard on perfecting the tricks on them that you like, and that will be good for lay audiences. It's much better to have just a few good videos/books and know the tricks well than it is to own a huge library of stuff you'll never use.

I heard from a friend that anecdotal evidence is actually quite reliable.
