That is simply a disgrace to magic. How this guy can call himself a magician I don't know.

I guess his magic is just not good enough to entertain so he has to resort to exposure to get people to like him.
He clearly has no respect for the art. Sad.

No one that watched that would even remember a single part of that explanation due to the speed. I don't like the presentation and I think it lacks a lot of creativity, but the his exposure to the public isn't going to end the world.

Jason,
I disagree with you, people will remember a portion of what they saw. When he revealed the moves he did it to explain them. I was there and watched the explanation and the audience. For example, the Ascanio Spread has a distinct appearance. From now on whenever one of these people sees a magician spread the cards in Ascanio fashion, that person will KNOW that the magician is doing <secret move edited out to prevent exposure>. The audience member will not be able to go home and execute an Ascanio spread, nor DL, Mexican Turnover, Elmsley Count, etc. However, if he were to come see me work later that evening at a restaurant (for example) then he would likely recognize what I was doing.

I originally posted in "The Workers" forum. In that thread someone found a video on Paul Nathan's website doing this trick. Go watch the video and decide for yourself if it is exposure or not. I think you will be appalled at whaty you see.

Please post all further comments in the original thread here:

Rick - many thanks for posting this in the Mentalism section of the Café. I might have missed it had you not as I don't normally read the Workers forum.

I've sent a VERY strongly worded email to him.

I'm guessing he's trying to attempt what Penn and Teller do with some of their presentations, but doesn't quite understand. . . well, anything.

That's the only things that I can think of when trying to find where he may be coming from.

It is sad how many people within the art disrespect it so much.

No they are not within the art.

They think & pretend but are not.

Yep and it is a good site.

But many have good PR and little in the way of ethics.
