I'm looking for a small sand frame, around 3.5" x 2.75." In searching the web, I've been unable to find anything smaller than 5.25" x 3.75".
It may be that I'll either have to find a builder willing to custom make a small frame for me or, in the alternative, make the frame myself. Has anyone made a sand frame? Does anyone know if there are instructions for making a sand frame in any books (not an explanation of how the frame works or how to use it, but on how to actually make one)? Whatever !@#istance you can provide will be greatly appreciated. |

Donal,
Funny you should bring this up. I was at a custom framing store today and was watching them make frames. The same thought crossed my mind. I was in a rush, so I did not make equerries. I have an old wooden Tenyo frame from the 70’s; it was the first serious piece of magic I purchased. Thanks, Bruce |

I don't know how helpful this might be, but...
there's a diagram in Hopkins (Magic, Stage Illusions, etc.) showing a cross-section of a sand frame. I think construction would be fairly straightforward, provided that one started from the interior parts and worked one's way outward. However, I'd also be very interested to find a source of more and better instructions. cheers, Lin |

I was able to find a digitized copy of the Hopkins book on line, and print out the drawings and descriptive references to the construction of a sand frame. I'm presently in discussions with a prop builder--I'll keep you posted. Thanks again, Donal |
