It TOTALLY depends on what market you are going for, IMO.

When I am working corporate events, I use either a real PARCHMENT or Double-laid card

You think I'd be hangin' out here if I could be sellin' my ugly autographed mug on eBay!? LOL.

Yeah... double-laid... it kind of makes it "poke out" amongst other cards ;-)

I think your picture should go on a "Flyer"...not in your business card (unless you are in the "Real State" business)...I think the moment you hand out your card they'll know how you look like; and being a Magician, they won't forget you very easily...(how often do lay people meet a real magician?)...if you do want your picture there, try to make it very artistic, somewhat different than a simple head shot...don't try to save money on your card...invest as much as necesary...do them professionally...instead of my picture I created a logo to go in my card along with the contact info...is very simple, and if they want to see my face again, they have to check my website...I think that a magician should always try be at least a little mystical...if you want to attract attention with pictures and colors, then make "additional" flyers...(or calling cards).

Family Market ???? ........................ use a (good) photo!!!

"I think the moment you hand out your card they'll know how you look like"

I put 1500 cards into circulation this week alone. Trust me I did not "hand" that many out!!! Through all my various forms of advertising my bus. card is foremeost, and in the family market it has a photo on it. Both my image and my logo is becoming recognizable in my geographic area.

On a display rack the photo card will be picked up, particularily if it has an interesting look and "says" magic, and likely be kept (both family market AND corporate). I do also have a black corporate card which I use at events with no photo, and my logo is a little more subtle on it.

probably not it just seems if you have a different view nowadays its easier to put a disclaimer on it than to try and justify yourself a million times.

Which is EXACTLY why I have so many posts LOL.

Oh and it is also my opinion that a twice laid card may not work for family markets LOL.

I find cards in my pocket all the time, and I usually have no idea where, or who I got them from, so you guys can criticize photo business cards all you want, but when I see a picture on them at least I know who gave it to me.

As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words.

There are hundreds of magicians to be found in any given market. When your business card is passed along to someone, or found on a counter, or discovered in a pocket after a networking event, all the potential client has to go on is what they see.

Can words really describe your personality and style the way a photo can?

I did a Google image search for the keywords "magician business card." Below are links to the cards I found. Don't you notice that the ones with pictures say so much more about the performer than the ones without?
