Glad to have found this post.
I bought a set of those, years ago in the Hague FISM Congress and I've been using them since then with great response. I developed a routine of about 2 minutes with some of my own moves after some time messing around with the rings. Unfortunately I lost track of the seller (suspect it was Tenyo) because the only stuff that came with the rings was a pamphlet with some pictures and a lot of chinesse text that I threw away. Since then, I've been trying to find some more sets as substitutes, with no fortune at all. Recently I found Dragonfly Rings that fit perfect the size but these are silver colored and mine are golden. I prefer golden, they seem to me more visual, elegant, different... so to say. I contacted some vendors asking for the golden ones and nobody knows them in that color. I browsed Tenyo web page but they don't have the rings even in the discatalogued products list. My first goal would be to find a couple or three more sets, but I also would like to find the same regular rings (not gaffed) to be able give them to examine. This could be solved by buying two more sets and sawing the linked ones, but it would be an expensive solution, huh! I don't know why all this kind of stuff doesn't come already with some ungaffed elements making possible examination. It would only be a bit fraction of extra-cost but would reinforce a lot the effect. At least, may they were possible to buy as 'spare parts' of the effect, like Masuda have done with the 'WOW' ungaffed sleeves he has developed. Any hints about where to find the golden ones please? preferably online since I come from Spain. Regards, Quique BTW: My set of golden rings also have the annoying seam in the welded ones.
Cheers,

Pete: What Jack is doing is with the Dragonfly rings. It's looks really nice up-closeand convinced me to get a set. The melt through with the single rings looks like pure magic. There's a routine on youtube by broccoli (or something like that - I know - a vegetable). It's a smooth routine. Ben - you should simply post your whole routine. At least we can see the finished product.

(As are most of Brocoli's vids.) It inspired me to seek a set of small rings... Haven't bought anything yet because I haven't found a set without those awful visible welds. DJ - Thanks for the review of the Dragonfly Rings. Best, dc

After seeing that video I am going to pull my set out of the drawer! I will also recheck the promo video to see Ben's handling that didn't make the DVD.

My biggest passion in magic, besides coin work, was the ever classic Chinese Linking Rings. Over the years I have put together 7 different presentations for linking rings, each an 8-ring routine. I have also come up with 5 different presentations for a close-up 8-ring routine, and a few more for 3-ring routines. I love the effect of linking two objects and being able to show them clearly and unmistakably linked. I have long been considering picking up the set from El Duco, which are currently available. I had also been looking at getting the Dragonfly Rings, and like djkuttdecks, I saw MagicMakers and abandoned that thought. Upon seeing that it was an original from Ben Salinas, I am now reconsidering.
Has anybody used both sets that can compare the two? Outside of the El Duco set being a 3-ring version and Dragonfly being 4 rings, are there any major differences, quality notwithstanding? To me, close-up rings that show welds are fine, as long as they stand up to hard use. The welds can be played into a story line along the lines of, "I just picked these hitch rings up at the hardware store today..." Even that is not necessary, because if they are examinable, they will find that the rings cannot be taken apart anyway. |

As I recall, doesn't the McAbee Rings routine require a table? Don't remember this as being something for walk around. I could be wrong.

I will say the McAbee routine is one I have never seen done by a strolling performer; I have always seen it presented in formal sit-down shows. It is a nice routine though! For me, I found through trial and error using a borrowed set that the shape of the McAbee rings never worked for the flow of the routines I put together, so I never bought them.

Couldn't the welds be removed with emery cloth or some other less abrasive materials

Just because a person has never seen the McAbee Rings done strolling does not mean anything. I have the original set and a set from Martin Lewis. They can be done strolling if one wishes to do so. Just have to use spectator's hands for a table, and use the different methods explained for switches. Of course like any magic trick the less you wear, the harder it is to routine. This is not a self-working trick. It takes some practice. Table not absolutely required if you want to work on it yourself.
It fits very well in close up table hopping and strolling, because you can simply say, you found these lovely ladies bracelets and though you would do a little magic with them. The original version was made from costume jewelry bracelets. I found a bracelet set at a local store, they come clipped together in a set of 6 back then. So I bought 4 sets and made backups. They are an ordinary object every woman would recognize and most like want to keep. |

I have an older set of these dragonfly rings but they are not soldered, if you pull on the seams the single and the double will open, not enough to become a key, just a little, but they are not soldered. are yours the same? I don't know from whom I got them.
Any help? |

The videos look real good and I love the fact the rings are as small as they are.

If you search for “Tenyo Tiny Ring” on YouTube , a couple of routines come up, including , I believe, the routine you’re looking for.

Tenyo Tiny Ring is the gold set that was mentioned earlier. They have no seams. Sets can be found on EBay, but the cost for a pre-owned set is fairly prohibitive.
